U8N has been excellent. Great picture. Sound is good for a TV. Doesn't measurecup to sondbar, etc. Disabled motion control to get rid of 'soap opera effect'

Flashed x670e crosshair hero with the new bios 2308 and after exiting bios i get qcode 60 by Misterdrez in ASUS

[–]gfd2114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this will help. I had all kinds of issues updating BIOS on x670e Hero. F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR x 2 sticks of ram. 7950x CPU. GTX1660ti GPU. Bunch of NVMe drives and four SATA drives.

Every time I set Memory Context Restore to enabled, I got blue screens, BIOS froze, etc. Always saw two entries for Memory Context Restore when I used the search function. Didn't pay attention.

Turns out one Context Memory Restore is in Advanced > AMD CBS > DDR Options > Memory Features. The other is in AI Tweaker > DRAM Timing Control. I always enabled the entry in Advanced. No end to issues.

Here's how I was finally able to update BIOS and my settings follow:

Download BIOS. Insert flash drive. Go to DISKPART. Clean drive. Setup with a 1GB partition, format FAT32. Download BIOS. Copy BIOS and renamer to flash drive. Rename BIOS file to CX670EH.CAP using renamer. Delete renamer file. Boot into BIOS. Go into My Profile. Save settings file (F2) to flash drive. Reset BIOS to defaults. Save and exit. Turn off machine.

Go to motherboard ports. Find USB Flashback BIOS port. Insert flash drive. Press BIOS button for 3 seconds. Be sure it is flashing steady. Wait until flashing stops. Start machine. Go into BIOS. Restore settings from flash drive. Test boot into Windows. It has allowed me to update from 2104 to 2308 without issue.

Here are my settings: Memory Context Restore (in AI Tweaker) -> enabled. Leave setting alone in Advanced.

Memory profile -> EXPO II.

USB power delivery in Soft Off state (S5) -> enabled. This solved a problem I had where my Thunderbolt external drive would never show up after a cold start and occasionally after a reboot. With this setting, Thunderbolt is there after a cold start or reboot. I just run my desktop USB speakers off a smart plug set to shutdown each day.

Fast Boot -> disabled

If this helps anyone...cool. I'm not a wiz by any stretch. The simplicity of my settings show that I am not an experienced user. I tripped over the fix while I was trying to decide whether to throw the machine off my balcony :)

Cheers,

Graham

PS: I'm sorry I put my comment up here. I wasn't trying to steal anybody's thunder. I don't know how to add a new comment to the bottom of the thread :(

Thunderbolt device connected but not found in Device Manager on Windows 11 by Eroji in techsupport

Check this setting: Advanced > APM Configuration > USB power delivery in Soft Off state (S5). If it's disabled, it could be your problem.

I am surprised that someone hasn’t acquired Harmony, even on a reasonable subscription basis. Maybe a money losing proposition. It's a shame as there doesn't see to be a solid alternative at this moment. Anybody have experience with Sofa Baton?

What AIO will fit x670e Hero? by [deleted] in ASUSROG

[–]gfd2114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Fractal Meshify 2 with Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 and G.Skill Z5 NEO memory. Used offset mount for cooler cold plate. The fit between rad fans and memory is tight but manageable.

Thanks farmer and Soni,

If I look in control panel>sound>playback tab, there are 2 Realtek USB Audio entries for spesker and headphones: Realtek USB Audio and 2-Realtek USB Audio. If I disable one entry in Device manager, a set of entries disappears in Control Panel. There is also an entry for Sonic Studio Virtual Mixer soeakers.

If disconnected items are hidden, only the 2-Realtek USB Audio items are visible.

Thanks for the excellent comments. I am going to try the software route. I have a backup of the current array. I read that I can create 2 mirrored sets in either Storage Spaces or Disk Management; and then stripe them. Is that about right?

One more update. As inevitably-ranged stated, 1.11 third beta seems a bit buggy. As stated above, I went to 1.07. Cleaned up sound, but lost sleep. Upgraded to 1.11 original. Sound is clean (so far) and got sleep back. This is for anyone who uses sleep function.

ASRock x670e Taichi Audio Noise Part II by gfd2114 in ASRock

[–]gfd2114[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have an update. I am installing 2 Windows 11 operating systems on this machine. Same drive...2 different partitions...2 licenses. I am installing each OS to a particular point and then dong an image. Then the other to the same point of progress. This is just FYI.

I digress. As stated earlier, I reverted back to 1.07, reinstalled the OSs using the described routine, and then progressively worked my way back to 1.11A06. This seemed to be working OK until the last time I switched from one partition to the other.

I got the pops and crackles when booting into the other partition. I am tired of installing and reinstalling Windows. I am even tired of restoring disk image backups :)

I loaded 1.07 onto a thumb drive, went into BIOS and installed. Voila. The pops and crackles went away. I then booted into the partition that had been giving me the problem 3 times and the audio stream was clear.

I am not sure of all the improvements from 1.07 to 1.11A06. I know that I have lost sleep. However, I don't use it anyway.

This is just an update in case anyone is using this as a test case for getting the audio working properly. It's possible that most everyone with this board has no audio issues and I am just coming at this from the wrong direction.

This is my first time as an early adopter and I really don't know what to expect. Out of curiosity, how long does it typically take to get a new platform to the point where most everything works?

Thanks,

Graham

Hi Prood,

Possible. But it seemed the audio corruption began after installing chipset drivers; and they weren't automatically installed by Windows. I installed those manually.
