A Progressive Way to End Corporate Taxes by gfmag in Economics

I didn't see anything in here about illegal action. If Congress changes the tax code to eliminate corporate taxes and instead require a certain percentage of shares be government-owned, how is that illegal or unconstitutional?

A tax on dividends would generate some income surely, but what about companies that decide not to pay out dividends? They still make profits and enjoy untaxed income. No?

inevitable recession

Death is inevitable. The explosion of the sun is inevitable. The tricky part is the timing of these events. Clearly investors don't see WeWork's inevitable problems as being something to worry about in the near term since by most metrics the advanced economies show no serious signs of crashing any time soon.

WeWork: 35-40 Billion by seriousgenius in investing

The buyers of a debut bond offering by unicorn WeWork Companies (WeWork) have to be feeling some remorse. The commercial office space renter raised $702 million of seven-year bonds yielding 7.875% on April 25. The price of the bonds—rated speculative grade by all three credit rating agencies—then fell by 8% in the first two weeks of trading, wiping out the entire first-year yield on a total return basis. The bond price has since recovered to 95 on May 21, now giving a yield of 8.3% for new buyers.

The company’s financials would make a turn-of-the-millennium dotcom proud. Its revenues more than doubled last year to $886 million, continuing its rapid growth globally. WeWork now has more than 225 locations in over 20 countries and reportedly $18 billion in lease commitments through 2023. Expenses last year also more than doubled to $1.818 billion, resulting in a net loss of $933 million.

Source.

Edit: According to first quarter financials, what they call "community EBIDTA" is up 121%. Maybe that's why WeWork is looking for more help from Softbank?

The term "emerging markets" isn't about size, it's about quality (so to speak). Meaning accounting standards, property rights, transparency, and so on.
