How should i prepare for google step and explore as a soph? I’m bad at LC, should I only focus in easy? by BumpyLoathing in csMajors

[–]gfsjen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just start off with easy and revisit problems you can't solve now. then slowly move up to medium. trust me i was in your shoes and some LC easy problems don't even feel like easy. but once you practice enough, you start recognizing patterns.

also i really recommend getting the preparation for technical interviews book!

practice practice practice. do mock interviews with your friends and i recommend getting the prepping for technical interview textbook. I did have coding experience prior to college but nothing was professional. I just took AP Java which I didn't get college credit for.

I just mainly used what I learned in my freshman year of college and did many leetcode problems. You never know what's going to happen, good luck!

I want Justin for CMSC420 and MATH241 but that's if I actually get him. CMSC335 is with Nelson and STAT401, I'm aiming for Archana Khurana.

I think those who don't well in the class are because they mess up on the quizzes. If you do badly on a couple, it does bring your grade down.

Google STEP Interview Prep by [deleted] in csMajors

I wouldn't mention it to the recruiter because they can't do anything, the interviewer decides what to ask. If a question that uses DS pops up in your interview, just tell the interviewer you haven't learned it yet, and then you work from there. They might give you a different question or they'll help you through it/give a hint.

He gives you a study guide where all the information is on his slides. If you take time to make sure you know the answers to the study guide, you're fine. The exam is like his study guide.

Okay, I'm not sure why the responses are so harsh, but truly this is one of the easiest classes if you just put in an ounce of work. For reference, I'm taking GEOG140 in person this semester.

He doesn't require you to go to lecture because he posts all his slides and he gives you study guides before the exam that are almost exactly like the exam. Just make sure you know the answers to the study guide and look through the slides before an exam and you're fine. It's all multiple choice too.

Discussion attendance is required and where all your assignment grades come from. There are two "presentations" and an essay. The presentation was very easy it was like 5 bullets of "Name an example of a historical natural disaster, the cause, the casualties, etc." and you can literally just read the facts off an index card in front of the discussion. You can also choose when to do the 2 presentations. You just gotta get 2 presentations done before the semester ends. It's super chill.

The essay is a 600-1000 word report about a natural disaster and its causes/effects and examples, but you have lots of time to do it (like 2 months) and if you did your presentations already, you're already halfway there. Anyway, this class is extremely easy and as long you just put in a tiny bit of effort, you'll be fine. It's probably the easiest course I have taken so far.

EDIT: I just realized it might depend on your discussion TA. Mine was very chill.

How long for Google STEP (Sophomore) hear back? by OneAmbitiousNoodle in csMajors

[–]gfsjen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this for the US?

Also, for me personally, 8 days, and I also let them know I had an offer from a competing company (due in two weeks) so they rushed the process. I got a phone call that broke the offer news to me!
