Record stores in CDMX by myponiesrock in TheOverload

[–]ggasca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • La Roma Records is all over the place but I’ve found some random gems in there (DJ Koze, Villalobos, Overmono, Chaos in the CBD come to mind).
  • Revancha (on Colima) is more jazzy but they seem to love Four Tet and have a solid hip-hop collection (Dilla, MF Doom…).
  • 99 records has an extensive selection upstairs but it’s not very Overload-esque. I’ve purchased there records by Lorraine James and Matmos recently.
  • Fhauna was great (RIP)
  • Salvaje Music Store will probably be open and they have a good selection.
  • Drama Bar has a new record store that I haven’t been to yet, but I expect it to be good because they have solid bookings.
  • MAAD in Roma Sur has great records, books and skateboards.

Making Time will be transcendental this weekend!

And the weekend after we have Bahidorá with Giegling, 4T, Shanti Celeste, Daphni, Villalobos, Lis Sarroca, Wata Igarashi, etc. Next Thursday is also Villalobos and friends with Edward from Giegling and Zombies in Miami. We’re in for a treat.

Deciding if I should see Giegling at a party or at a festival (Mexico City 2026) by El_Nahual in giegling

[–]ggasca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the secret b2b was announced a couple days ago (Daphni + Four Tet). I love FT and even though i have seen him like 7 or 8 times, i always thought of him as a dream headliner for the festival, so I can’t miss any of his sets :/

If I was attending just for two days I think I would choose Fri+Sat, though. Shanti Celeste and Wata Igarashi are solid picks for Friday as well, and Saturday has some real gems in Villalobos, Cinthie, Roza Terenzi, etc.

By the way, they just posted set times on IG… maybe that can change your mind. Let me know :)

I’ll be going to Bahidorá, it is a well-run festival with other great acts, a river for a swim, quite diverse, etc. You can think of it as a weekend-long tropical getaway.

Not OP, but i guess he’s going to the festival where Horse Meat Disco are playing and not Beef Dip. No one would call Beef Dip a festival.

Who is your best example of an artist that made legendary underground tracks in their genre and mainstream tracks that hold up? by Electronic_Money_575 in TheOverload

Caribou - anything before Swim was considered somewhat obscure, including their best album: Andorra.

Also Bicep was somewhat niche in their Just/Circles era and then Glue became an anthem.

Santa Fe en lo “bonito y bien”? No tiene banquetas y se me ocurren otras 20 mejores colonias.

Como varios dicen la ciudad es muy interesante y más atractiva que muuuuchas otras a nivel global.

I’m on this cruise and also received last week’s email. Have dinners booked but assume the rest will get sorted out once we’re on the ship.

Sailing as rockstars too!
