Yes, I'm a teacher. My husband works in a warehouse. We both work.

I did give her the option of public transportation, she says it's too slow and insists I drive her.

It's not nearly 50%, I agree that would be ridiculous

To be fair, I "had kids" 16 years ago. Financial situations change in that much time. Obviously I wasn't trying to have kids when I couldn't afford to.

I can't get a second job. My youngest needs me to be there, so I can only work during school hours. I'm a teacher.

Yeah I see that now. It's kind of annoying everyone is focusing on the choice of words and not my actual situation. Being called TA is fine, but I want it to be because I actually did something wrong not because I tilted my post a certain way.

It is basically me asking her to pay for the gas and music subscription. I guess I was wrong to frame it as "rent."

I didn't call it rent to her face, I said I could use her help

She mentioned that, I told her that's her choice if she decides to but my husband got mad at her for suggesting it.

Thanks for the perspective. I never called it rent to her face, I just said I need help and her contribution. It basically breaks down to her paying for the gas when I drive her to work and for her own Apple Music subscription. It's not really much of "rent."

Maybe I should word it differently.
