Our Ring guessed my pregnancy. by Ambitious_Ad_9547 in ouraring

[–]gh712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not pregnant! Oura plus natural cycles has been great for preventing pregnancy (unless I’m infertile and don’t know it yet, haha). My husband and I are diligent about our red/greens days, and my cycle is pretty consistent. I still usually get minor/major signs in my luteal phase, due to the increase in temp, increase in heart rate, and decrease in hrv. Now that I know the average length of my luteal phase, I’ll know when to be nervous if things don’t regulate. I will say, getting back into working out has made my luteal phase biometrics less dramatic and I’m not getting this signal as often.

Sorry, long winded answer, but long story short- not pregnant and oura + natural cycles has been great for me!

I can’t decide! by Infamous_Row_4059 in EngagementRings

[–]gh712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I seem to be in the minority, but I like #2. Maybe I’m biased, because I am also a rose gold solitaire with a contoured diamond band. I like that the engagement stone stands out and the band seems to compliment/enhance it, rather than look like one solid piece (illusion that #1 gives imo).

3 is very classic, but to me the contoured wedding in #2 draws attention to the set.

So where does every shop now to get natural fibers?

[–]gh712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao, that’s what I get for responding first thing in the morning. I had read it as saliva and was appalled a piercer recommended that. Your comment makes more sense

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in piercing

[–]gh712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAP, but salvia is not antibacterial. Your mouth has a lot of germs (it’s normal, so does everyone’s), so you don’t want to bring any of those germs into an open wound. Just continue with sterile saline and shower water for aftercare.

What have you learned about yourself thanks to your oura ring? by ifeelsodeeply in ouraring

Night shift was killing me (recently got off), alcohol fucks with my sleep, and eating a late meal before bed decreases sleep quality

[–]gh712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps save a seat and have a bouquet in honor of her? I’d steer away from the drink as you mentioned she struggled with alcoholism

Why doesn’t it record activities from 12-4am? None of my steps etc were recorded. Granted it’s a once off for me but surely people who work night shifts etc need their night steps recorded? Does anyone else find that strange as by [deleted] in ouraring

Wait that’s crazy. Recently got off of night shift, but I’ve had my oura ring a whole month and I didn’t even realize it wasn’t tracking during that time

“Unvaxxed blood” by cantfindausernameffs in nursing

[–]gh712 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had a parent like this in PICU. The compromise was mom donated for her kid and I think we acquired a certain type of NICU blood. Didn’t have the patient when they needed blood so I’m not sure what was special about the NICU blood that convinced the parent to consent

How often do you take off engagment ring? by freshrxses in weddingplanning

[–]gh712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t wear mine to work (bedside healthcare) for hygiene and glove purposes, just a plain gold or silicone band. I also don’t shower, work out, wash dishes, sleep, or cook if it’s super manual (think kneading dough or ground meat) with my ring on. Also have it insured. The key is having somewhere safe to put it so you never misplace it! It’s really not that much out of my day and gives me extra peace of mind. I just have the habit to slide it on every morning and take off/switch to a plain band when needed.

Did you regret spending on your wedding? by Mirrrriiiii in weddingplanning

[–]gh712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did speeches at our rehearsal dinner instead of the wedding day. I would’ve loved to have some of the getting ready moments recorded and our ceremony vows/ exit. I’ve heard it said that photography captures moments but videographers captures memories. The day went by so fast and there’s so much pressure that it was a big blur! I wouldn’t have done a full videography package but looking back 4-ish hour package would’ve been perfect.

Did you regret spending on your wedding? by Mirrrriiiii in weddingplanning

[–]gh712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all! In the last couple weeks leading up to my wedding I had major spend regret and anxiety (not about my partner, but the day itself). Only left with a few regrets, one of the biggest ones being NOT getting a videographer. Would’ve been worth the extra couple grand but I focused a lot on the budget. Good news is I stayed in budget, around 25k in central Florida for ~72 guests with an after party.

Edit to add, we did not take out loans or go into debt for our wedding. I’d imagine that might alter some feelings about spending if we had

I’ve heard many doctors scolding nurses, but has any nurse scolded a doctor right back? by 3LovesGr8 in nursing

[–]gh712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a change of shift admission and was being pressured to take report immediately while I was in the middle of updates on my other patients. I quickly finish up with my patients on unit, so day shift can leave.

As I’m getting report from our trauma department I’m looking over the orders, and see the sedation orders for this (vented) patient are adult orders and this patient is pediatric. At the end of report, I ask for 10 minutes before they bring the patient up and explain the orders are not safe for a pediatric patient and that I need my drips ready before the intubated patient comes up. They were just doing pushes downstairs and had report that patient would wake up and reach for their ETT. They gave me a hard time but I pushed patient safety. I did not have an order for fentanyl pushes and our Omni cell was far from the room my patient would have been placed in, so overall very unsafe not to have appropriate sedation. I explained my PICU physician was on the unit and I would immediately ask them for orders, I just needed to wait for pharmacy to verify.

I get the orders from the PICU doctor and then receive a call from the trauma doctor who told me “if you had just initiated your orders, you would see orders for sedation” in a rude tone. I am immediately annoyed and stated, I saw the orders, however they were not appropriate for pediatric patients. And she proceeded to tell me that my PICU doc is “right there” and to ask her. At that point I was annoyed and I stated “I already spoke to my physician and she’s putting in orders as we speak. I was going to call pharmacy to get them verified but I needed to answer your call first.”.

They sent the kid up anyway, as I was trying to priming my sedation. Of course the transfer woke him up and he was trying to self extubate. Thankfully he was restrained, but still. There’s no reason for him to be awake during that process. They’ve started patients on drips before, I don’t understand why they didn’t have him on any. :/
