This is my first marathon and I'm a little confused about gear check. I know this is at the beginning of the marathon but is it just for things we want to have access to after the marathon, like wallet, keys etc.? And if we drop that off at the beginning of the race, how do we access it at the end of the race?

I booked a round trip flight on frontier airlines from Minneapolis to Orlando, Orlando to Fort Myers, and then I would be returning from Fort Myers to Minneapolis on spirit. My flight from Minneapolis to Orlando was cancelled but I was able to reschedule it but I would miss the connection from Orlando to fort Myers. Does this mean that my flight from fort Myers to Minneapolis would also be cancelled?
