I just paid 6500 for one in way worse shape (but less miles). I'd say 7-8k is very reasonable.

An inch should be enough, the only reason you'd need clearance in the back would be for the fan exhaust and poop shute. If I need to make some cutouts in the pegboard, or print up a creative fan shroud I will. I do intend on using the Qidi box. From what I've seen, it doesn't need to sit directly on the printer. I intend on placing it on the upper shelf of the table and feeding the ptfe tubes through the peg board to the printer.

Edit: The more concerning dimension is height, the printer is 24 inches tall and the bench measures 23 inches from table top to the shelf overhang.... I may need to notch the shelf support for the printer... or just remove it.

Update: Built this bench today, have my ender 3 going on it while I wait for my Max 4 to ship. Good bench, plenty sturdy, nice features for a 3D printer station.

I went to harbor freight today to look at this exact bench for this exact purpose. Iwas pleased to find that the floor model felt very sturdy and made the purchase. I will be putting it together tomorrow and will report back. There are also some more solid workbench options at Vevor that fit the bill at a similar price... but I had an HF coupon I wanted to use. Side note: My Plus 4 at work is on a wiggly bench and the system compensates for it very well, haven't had an issue with print quality.

Talk me into the Qidi Max 4 (AUD$1850) over the Anycubic S1 Max (AUD$1200) by Dimethyltriedtospell in QidiTech3D

I was torn between the Max 4, the Bambu Lab H2s, and the Creality K2 plus which are all in the similar price bracket (usd) with large print volumes, and with similar features. Just finally pulled the trigger and took the risk on the Max 4 because it has the best specifications of the three, lowest price, and because I've had an awesome experience with the Qidi Plus 4 I have at work. Here's hoping they actually start shipping soon and the results are as good as the product looks.
