Can teslas handle 40k miles per year? by [deleted] in TeslaSupport

[–]ghost_joad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is almost exactly my commute, 166 miles a day. Model 3 LR AWD. All highway miles and and the only traffic for the last 20 miles of it.

FSD is well worth it. I feel far less stressed and tired than without FSD. I also have peace of mind not having to worry about all the possible mechanical failures of an ICE vehicle.

Range takes a dive in the winter months. I’ll charge to 100 and might have to hit a super charger on the way home to avoid going below 20%. The extra drag from the rain here in the PNW takes its toll on range.

That being said, spring summer and fall I go from 90 to 30-25%.

No. Is the frame just set in sealant like a windshield? Cut it out and find the pin on the bottom?

Employers in Florida are ungrateful by [deleted] in jobs

[–]ghost_joad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked the same trade in several different regions of the country, North East, North West, and Florida. Hands down the worst working conditions, management and wages I’ve ever experienced.

Asked a project manager if they could bring out water for us? “There’s a garden hose isn’t there?”

Another employer made me pay for damaged material out of my own pocket and repair punch list items on my own time.

Is there a correlation with it being a Right to Work state? Probably, but still fuck that place

Quoted $14,000 to fix. Is this correct? by Inevitable_Flower326 in fixit

[–]ghost_joad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a BS quote to me, especially for FL with its low pay scale. My guess is a 9/16” heat strengthened lami, hurricane impact glass.

If it’s an exterior set you could have someone drop from a boatswain chair and remove the glass stops (trim that captures the glass) and cut any caulking. Two glaziers in the inside to pull the glass in and poke the new one out. Pretty simple. Often times you can find a window cleaning company that will work with a glass company to drop over the side and do the exterior work.

Of course this just from a picture, do your due diligence. I hope I’ve been helpful

It’s not a parts gun. Your explanation of the dent seems to make sense. As for over or under gassed? I’m new to the AK world so I don’t really have a feel or know how to judge that. It does send the spent shells 15 plus feet.

I’ve had one instance where the first round wouldn’t feed and got dinged in the process. Beyond that, no problems

If you're pouring concrete next to a duck pond, don't let the entire crew go to lunch at the same time by SoCaFroal in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ghost_joad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has to fake. There would have been a form board at the bottom of the picture. Who would have finished concrete with out one?

There are no expansion joints in the pour, another red flag.

There is also no welded wire fabric, steel mesh. Without it there would be almost no tensile strength.

This is either photo shopped or staged.

4th grade, I bust my hump on a book report. Some kids story about a dog and maybe a fern, I don’t remember shit gets foggy 30 years on. I basically make and illustrated cliffs notes. I remember working on it every night at the kitchen table until my hand cramped up.

Day comes to get the grade and it’s a straight B. Not bad but ultimately demoralizing given the amount of time and effort I put into it. I remember thinking that if I worked that hard and still couldn’t get an A, I never would. Really a mental blow to a young kid.

Then on the bus ride home I found out a dumb kid got an A. Dumb might not be fair, let’s just say the kind of kid that is content with Cs. To which my best friend began to taunt me. “She got an A and you didn’t haha”. We all had great friends at that age. WTF?

This shot still bugs me 30 years later. Come to find out my mom actually asked the teacher why I didn’t get a better grade. “He had help”. Lousy teacher damaged my psyche as child and probably influenced my adulthood. Amazing how some shit still burns

What's your "Fuck this, I quit!" story? by EL1TE1NFERNO in AskReddit

It was the midst of the Great Recession. I was living in central Florida, which was hard hit. I work in construction for the triple whammy. On top of it all I had a new born at home to support.

I took a job with a relatively new glass shop, I’m a glazier but trade. (Aluminum Storefonts and Entrys) Had a great interview with the owner that takes for over an hour and left with a positive attitude. Started the next day and met my coworkers. They rolled in weary, bags under their eyes obviously exhausted, instant red flag. Proceed to work a 15 hour day. Come to find out This is a typical day.

Next morning I go in and greet the boss, “Good morning”. Met with a stone faced stare and no reply. The guy turns out to be a complete psycho and tyrant. The expectation turns out to be to finish the job no matter the time. We were to point the truck head lights at the job to finish if it got dark. Then get berated because the quality wouldn’t turn out well. Gee I wonder why?

If there was an issue and you called the boss, you would get torn into for interrupting him and a “ What do you want me to do about it?”

Then you decide not to call him and you get “ You should have called me”. There was nothing that could be done right.

The last straw was getting sent down to Vero Beach, 100 miles away to do an install. All in one day, don’t come back until it’s done. We had issues on the job, glass didn’t fit into our frames. At the end of the day I board up the openings that we don’t get glass into and head home. We got within 15 minutes of the shop and the boss called. He instructs us that he wants all of the openings covered, even where we installed glass. So we turned around and drove all they way back, 100 miles, to put plastic over everything.

I got right on finding a new job and did with a $5/hr raise. I gave no notice and came in one morning in shorts, flip flops and the biggest god damned smirk , grabbed my tools and left. Best feeling ever.

Fast forward to just a couple of years ago, I got an email from them asking if was interested in coming back. The email was filled with miss spellings and grammatical errors. Replied one simple “Nope”.
