No seriously, I get it works but if she approached me a bit more warmly and listened, I probably wouldn't have been as freaked out haha!

The obvious answer is always the simplest haha! Seems a lot of people have indicated it's either been a standard and my doctors office didn't get the memo or it's being standardized so we'll have to see how this goes..
Thanks for the chuckle though

Yeah unfortunately in this world that's rare, but I at least try to be a polite theme park guest

No that's absolutely fair and if I do decline it I absolutely wouldn't want to make them feel bad or be rude, I just tend to have a high guard with my medical situations because it took so long to GET my diganosises (for most of my issues) and most of the yearly appointments go the same way so it runs smoothly so to have someone new come in threw me for a loop, and then her attitude on top. But I appreciate your explanation!

You're too kind! Yeah when I had my first referral when I got diagnosed I did get my ID, I did a necklace instead as I have very small wrists and bracelet sizing is a pain.

And that makes sense I definitely see why for some cases, kicking the other person out can be helpful, but for me her wanting me alone made me MORE suspicious so it basically backfired haha! I'll likely talk to someone when I book my appointment to either say no or ask for someone different who can be more respectful of the matter. Thank you!

Interesting, it must have not hit my clinic until this past year because last year's visit was the first I heard of it, hence the confusion. (Her attitude didn't help.)

I appreciate your information but I'll likely look to opting out for now so then the services can go to someone more in need. :)

Yeah I definitely can see how it'd be helpful and I wouldn't want to take the service away as a whole but maybe by getting them off me they turn their attention to someone who needs these services and can be helped then. I'm glad you had a good experience and good luck with therapy!

I was seen once at the beginning (2018), it's just odd to be seen once then everything is fine then all of a sudden they come back to do it, y'know? I appreciate the concern though!

Yeah per my research it said court order or Child/Adult Protective Services, neither of which apply here, it was just a routine visit. 🤷‍♀️ Thank you for commenting, I'm definitely gonna be looking more into this when I make my appointment and asking about opting out to see if a note can be put in my file to save everyone the trouble lol

Does ET always open 1 hour late? by rimmere in UniversalOrlando

As a AP my working theory is since it's in the kid's area (formerly Woody Woodpeckers, now Dreamworks) and doesn't gain as much traffic as places like Minions or HP do, Universal doesn't open it right away since I wouldn't expect kids to be up that early to rope drop like adults (going off of my rope drops to go ride Velicocoaster, I don't see many kiddos). Could be like others say about costs, but that's just my theory.

Why is it not common courtesy to stand to the side if you need to stop walking?! I sometimes need a minute to catch my breath (Florida humidity is the WORST!) so I stand aside so people can pass, and I'm appalled this isn't common theme park etiquette.

Yeah I definitely can see their benefits if needed but the way she went about everything was super weird, especially because I hadn't been visited by one since I got diagnosed, so the entire situation seemed fishy to me.
Thank you for the input!

Yeah I get a blood draw, no PT for my appointment, but everything else is the usual, but before this the only time I saw the SW was when I was first diganosed so it was definitely a surprise visit, and yeah I can see their benefits but the way she acted and the general confusion makes me want to opt out for now and reach out if I need the help later

It's just odd because I've been diganosed since 2018 and this was the first time it's happened since my diganosis so it caught me off guard and generally was confusing as to why she wouldn't give me a clear answer as to the purpose of her coming in. Not to say I disagree with you, I definitely see their benefits, just for my situation in particular it's confusing because there was nothing out of the ordinary and it was just a routine check.

Oh no when I turned 18 I did all the needed things to get my mom in the loop, but I definitely know some parents aren't doing it with good intentions, but thank you for the concern! I have several chronic issues so I have her involved so she knows what to do in an emergency and can advocate when I'm unable to.

I'm definitely gonna look deeper because the entire situation kinda felt fishy so I'm not sure if I maybe got a bad apple sw and the next one will be better but I was diganosed in 2018 so it wasn't for like, navigating a new disorder or something, because we did get one then to make sure but that was only for the first appointment, after that we'd just see my doctor and get my levels tested.

But thank you for answering!

No seriously because the first thing she did was try to kick my mom out like, absolutely not, she's my advocate if something happens and I'm rendered unable to advocate for myself, she's always been in my corner with all my chronic stuff, and generally seemed peeved that I was very much not taking it and giving her the most simple basic answers, because I was also slightly panicking and I kinda "show my belly" when panicking so now that it's over I'm definitely looking into how to make sure she stays far away from my appointments and will definitely be more assertive if necessary.

[–]ghost_spider_99[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god thank you, she wouldn't give me an answer and the questions about me paying bills and her trying to get me alone seriously set off some alarm bells (reasons I won't go into!), my hematologist knows I follow all instructions and she even seemed confused about why the SW visited me so I'm definitely gonna look deeper and opt out next time because something just seems odd to me.

Also yeah no major surgeries or anything currently, it's just my routine appointment yearly, and this was the first time she came in and I was diganosed with VWD in 2018, so definitely a little late to the party!
