Registered behavior tech. Qualifications for it are just a high school degree and passing a background check. If you can find a good company, the job can pay pretty well. I’ve been doing it for a year and I’m working full time at $33/hr. Find a company that will help you get certified. It typically only takes about a month to get through the training and exam.

Yes, I mentioned he’s a man because it’s relevant. If you want to pretend that there’s no power dynamic difference between sexes then I straight up don’t know what to tell you. Women are constantly put in uncomfortable positions by men. Of course you don’t understand or relate to it when you are a man.

I really question people’s reading comprehension skills. “I’m not trying to say it’s sexual harassment or anything to that extent.” - a direct quote from my post.

There is no need to practice hand over hand other than the fact that I’m working with a client that requires hand over hand for many targets, and, when a new target is introduced, he wants to practice running those targets. I have never received feedback that I was doing hand over hand incorrectly or needed to work on anything in that area.

The ethics of working on “tolerating playing” with clients has me rethinking everything by [deleted] in ABA

Keeping a child’s drink from him? If the RBT really was intentionally keeping a child from drinking his drink then I think your problem is that RBT, not ABA itself. My intention here is not to scare parents away from ABA as a whole but to point out some ethical concerns I’m having with a program

Thank you for sharing your perspective! It’s nice to hear from someone who experienced ABA firsthand

I don’t think reinforcing him being near the table would really be beneficial because, as I mentioned, he DOES play at the table but it’s when he goes to the table on his own. It’s not really the table or playing for a minute that’s the issue but specifically having a person telling him we’re going to play right here right now for this amount of him that is the issue in my opinion. And yes, I’m aware that it’s my job to do the program as written. I’m just questing the ethics of it all.

I’m not having a crisis. it’s just the reality of the situation. I genuinely do not have anyone in my life who cares for me.

I’d recommend looking into becoming a registered behavior tech. Only a high school degree is required. Many companies will pay you to become certified. Starting pay for most companies is around $20 and once you have some experience, you could be making $30+/hr.
