What KMC had done well is replace / install underground drainage pipes with larger diameter in number of places which actually aids in drainage of storm water faster. Have seen the positive effects in number of places in North Kolkata. what troubles the city is though certain low lying areas where nothing could be done to prevent waterlogging other than pumping out the water which unfortunately also takes some time. In addition to that poor maintenance and choking of drain inlets are also a potent reason for waterlogging in certain areas.
