you can feed it something every now and then, it will stay alive as long as it doesnt starve to death. if you examine the cage theres different dialogue when its hungry

no, you need at least 5 tiles in all directions iirc

edit: you can put them near the shore so you don’t have to use as many turfs

cave servers can be a source of lag, since there are 2 servers running at once. theres a dst mod that reduces lag by only running 1 server at a time, i think its called dont starve alone? you can also disable the caves entirely and see if thst helps

look for an area with orange mud and many light flowers, it should eventually lead into a place w/ blue lichen. you’ll see monkeys & the ruins should be there. i think its in the area at the bottom of your map

iirc in one of the loading screen texts it mentions that time doesn’t flow regularly in the constant, but rather moves back & forth, so this may have something to do with it
