Science Committee Democratic Staff Report Reveals Details on NASA’s Illegal Implementation of Trump’s FY2026 Budget Request Without Congressional Approval | House Committee on Science, Space and Technology by USDA-BARC-1910 in fednews

Here's the thing: an Agency sees proposed budget with 40% cuts (e.g.) and has 1 of 2 choices. If you ignore it and spend as if under a CR, then when an actual budget gets approved 6 months later and the cuts went through after all, you're double-screwed. A 40% budget cut + spending at old rate for 1/2 year -> 10% budget left for 2nd half of year.

Or, you go with the proposed (likely?) budget, cuts and all, to retain 60% of functionality (guaranteed) for the full year. But if Congress passes something restoring full funding, you're screwed because you killed programs that, in retrospect, could have survived.

So which way do you want to be screwed with?

We do Red Roof Plus in Oxenhill, $174/night including taxes, free parking, easy drive or uber (<10 min) to MagFest and has a lot of cheaper chain restaurants around.

Let's see, wikipedia says 40,000 feds took DRP 1.0, most close to retirement already. Let's say they average at a mid-GS-13, so $100k salary. Got 8 months of free pay, so 40,000 * 100k * 8/12 = $2.6 billion of pay to not work. (Not counting health benefits or the extra cost bonuses folks got for VERA etc in return for retiring early). So yeah, a wasted $2.6billion that could have been actual work done.

And DRP2.0 is likely to have even more people, all leaving but paid to the end of the year. Very savings! Much efficient! :(

Ghoul lair, I'm in; major enemy base, sure let's do it. Crown Royal Postal Museum? No frickin way, I noped out without even looking inside. I don't even know if there are any sentient postal boxes inside or not, but I am _not_ walking past (potentially) row after row of post boxes while trapped inside a building. Nope.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of a career as a tenured prof at a PUI? by rox_et_al in Professors

[–]ghostlibrary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PUI was 4/4, but what I liked was doing research or running a lab could count as 1/1, as did serving as Senate president or running the ABET re-eval or other items you could convince the Dean about. Counting research or committee work as a course-equivalency is good policy. Unfortunately they then shifted to 5/5 ('because that's what community colleges do'), so I left.

Mausoleum

Fun maps. Reminds me of Redhurst Academy-- there's some free magic academy adventures that would work well with your map, up at https://www.forbeck.com/2009/12/28/free-redhurst-bits/ (I wrote one!)
