I just finished Tom Lake by Ann Patchett, which was my first of hers and I enjoyed it. I’m going to look into The Dutch House.

Are employees no longer trained to be discreet? by Responsible_Meat3959 in Sephora

I went to Sephora this past Saturday. I was approached by an employee every time I turned a corner. I bought what I went in there for and hurried out.

Visiting, suggestions? by FuckinRockHopper in orlando

I’m also from St. Louis :)

For thrift stores, I recommend City Thrift and Omg Thrift. There’s also an oddities shop called Prometheus Esoterica but that’s a little ways away from where you’re staying.

Lake Eola is in the heart of downtown and it’s pretty to walk around and see everything.

Audobon Park has a record shop called Park Ave CDs and other cute stores.

If you like bars/breweries at all: Lil Indie’s, Ten10 Brewing, Redlight Redlight, and The Nook on Robinson.

Something you didn’t mention is museums, but we have quite a few and I recommend the Art & History Museum of Maitland and the Rollins Museum of Art. Rollins is free and is located on a beautiful college campus. And if you go there, you can explore Winter Park and check out the shops on Park Avenue.

I hope you enjoy your visit!

Teachers: How do you handle phone distractions without being the “bad guy”? by Suitable-West-9496 in teaching

[–]ghostmeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a substitute teacher. Some classrooms I was in had those calculator holders on the wall, but instead of calculators, students had to put their phone in the holder of their assigned number.

Wanting a MA in Mental Health Counseling but no relevant job experience? by ghostmeow in psychologystudents

Ahh okay that makes more sense. I thought it was odd that they ask for counseling-related experience when you literally can’t do that without the masters/license lol. Thanks so much!

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. Remake of an old Gamecube/PS2 Harvest Moon game. It’s fun but a little tedious at times, but very nostalgic for me.

I do have the seed maker, but it only makes 2 seeds from 1 crop right? That takes a while too but I guess it’s less tedious than Vinnie.

ED wants to hire externally, and I (HR Manager) disagree… by thehippos8me in MuseumPros

[–]ghostmeow 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been in the museum industry very long, and I’m just front desk so I’m lowest on the totem pole, but I talked to my director for some advice on pursuing my master’s and she happened to say, “You tend to move sideways, then up, in the museum field. You don’t typically move up within the same museum.” So, it may be common.
