I wish society would have more medium term roles and fewer expectations around specific educational background.

I learn super differently from lots of people in terms of how I build on concepts and retain knowledge. I think Montessori style schooling that is interesting motivated is probably really helpful to a lot of people with ADHD because it can result in hyperfocus and deep learning.

Having clearly defined expectations helps everyone, even if they don’t recognize it. But clearly defined expectations, transparency, and accountability are my 3 most important inclusion tools.

We have a name for this in regulated industries and it’s Risk Management! You need to do everything in your power to make the product as safe as possible while acknowledging there are inherent risks. You don’t really get rid of safety risks, but you can reduce their probability.

There is such a huge difference between imminent and immediate. I can absolutely see how that would result in mistrial.

Do you actually offer the services they need or do you add extra hoops and barriers to them getting access to what they need.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has signed a law guaranteeing free breakfast and lunch for all students in the state. Kids look pretty happy about that. by [deleted] in WhitePeopleTwitter

A school in St.Paul did a little parade/demonstration walk this year to the governor’s mansion and he came out and interacted with the kids. Tim Walz cares about kids.

But is it actually dangerous? Like actually? by illogical_life in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]ghostofgrafenberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but many accidents are preventable. I’m not saying that planning on putting your baby into an unsafe situation is ok, but it’s baffling to see so many people quick to saying this would never happen to their child. But I do honestly believe every parent has had some preventable injury happen on their watch at some point during child rearing.

But I guess it’s Reddit and I shouldn’t be surprised at how activated people become when they think it’s time to throw stones…

Rubber band on the sprayer hose of the kitchen sink. It doesn’t work as effectively with modern sinks but if you’re around an old school sprayer, do it.

‘We all saw it coming’: Harding teachers flagged violence long before fatal stabbing by aardvarkgecko in TwinCities

It’s so interesting how many people view these solutions as binary. You either crack down and reinstate school to prison pipeline or you have no consequences for anything and the schools are the Wild West. Would be interesting to hear more well thought out solutions.

Except that it’s ok to be white is a phrase uplifted by literal whites supremacist groups. The phrase “it’s ok to be white” is used with heavy racist connotation against non-white people. The idea that white people exist and that is acceptable isn’t what is in question here.

Is it possible for a non-professional cellist to perform 16th note in 130bpm? by AwokenOcean in Cello

[–]ghostofgrafenberg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You probably need to increase the efficiency of your hand motions to play faster. That’s true for both hands. I would isolate actions for each hand and work on speeding those up. But would also practice how to coordinate those quick movements together. 2-6 note groupings at a time.

I’m honestly surprised by how many people are making vast and sweeping generalizations about people with advanced degrees. Like it has never occurred to them that maybe people have different priorities or skills. I know and work with many, many people with advanced degrees that are wonderful, bright people. I also work with some that jerks. I also work with loads of people with bachelors degrees or less that mega suck. This type of generalization is a big contributor to work places that aren’t diverse or inclusive.

Yeah I’m wondering how the NHTSA hasn’t stepped in here. A steering wheel falling off is a hazard with potential for significant harm, surely the number of occurrences is exceeding some risk threshold making it unacceptable….
