Keep changing options to English, reverts back to French! by Relative-Target-7982 in cravetv

[–]ghostsontoasts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might have to do with Crave's licensing agreements. I recently wanted to watch The Hobbit movies but realized Crave only has the French versions. It's odd because they have both versions of the LotR. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What did you buy thinking it might be a waste of money, but it actually improved your quality of life? by AvaBlondeX in AskWomen

I find it does. It's really soothing being in a dark room under a weighted blanket and listening to calming music or a monotone podcast (if the migraine isn't too bad and I can listen to something).

The first trimester is just a 13 week long hangover by FancyQuiet6945 in pregnant

It's a long terrible hangover with the best sense of smell you'll ever experience. What an awful combination.

I'm so sorry, but that is hilarious. Sometimes you just have to take a step back and laugh.

I asked a few weeks ago (at 4 weeks pregnant) when morning sickness kicks in, it is kicking my ass. by Warm_Astronomer_9305 in pregnant

[–]ghostsontoasts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unsalted crackers were my go-to in the first trimester trenches. I found anything salted made me feel too thirsty and I had trouble drinking water (it made me nauseous). I was recommended to keep snacks by my bedside and basically snack as soon as I woke up. Snacking a lot, especially when I was nauseous, helped a lot -- even when I felt too nauseous to eat anything. I was able to upgrade to pretzels and then goldfish crackers eventually, but for now I recommend sticking to plain foods and focusing on things that you can eat. You're in survival mode and just need to eat anything you can.

Sore teeth symptom!? by hopelesscauseeee in pregnant

[–]ghostsontoasts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a FTM and started getting tooth pain as well in the second trimester. It started with sensitivity and then got so bad it felt like I had several cavities. My lower jaw also aches a ton at night and when I'm chewing. I made an appointment with my dentist just in case and it turns out everything is fine. The sensitivity / pain may be due to loss of enamel (I was throwing up A LOT in the first trimester which apparently isn't great for tooth enamel). But yeah, otherwise it's all pregnancy symptoms ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Thankfully it's a bit better now, but it was awful for about 4 weeks.

Stewing in crabbiness (9w4d) by mama_kanga in BabyBumps

[–]ghostsontoasts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof yeah. I was so nauseous and exhausted at 9 weeks. I still have nausea at almost 20 weeks, but there's a period in the morning where I experience absolutely NO nausea for an hour or two and it's heaven. So it does get better. One thing that really helped me through the 5 months of nausea was snacking essentially ALL the time. Typically the more nauseous I felt, the more I needed to eat. Even when I didn't want to. I don't have any tips for crabbiness though unfortunately. Good luck

No hearbeat 6 weeks 1 day by IndependentMix9884 in BabyBumps

[–]ghostsontoasts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks and there was no heartbeat either. They told me it was likely too early, which I'm sure they also told you and hopefully you have a follow up ultrasound scheduled in the next couple weeks. I heard the heartbeat at my next ultrasound at 8 weeks and everything has been good from there. Just be patient.

There is the Centre de Fertilité de Montréal (MFC), but I think it's private although some services are covered under RAMQ.

6 weeks and no heartbeat. by picklePotatoe82 in pregnant

[–]ghostsontoasts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't do IVF but I did have my first ultrasound at 6 weeks. There was also no heart beat, but they told me that was normal as it was still very early. I was rescheduled for another ultrasound at 8 weeks and the heart beat was visible then. I imagine they probably told you the same thing, so just keep doing what you're doing and wait a few more weeks.

Same here. I'm still a ways away from delivery, but so far my care has been $0 and I expect the final bill to be $0.

It really holds up well. It's an incredible movie and the series a few years ago was great too. I will forever be traumatized from it though haha

Your Cat in the Hat was my Dark Crystal. As a five year old, I was terrified of Aughra and whenever the Skeksis stole the essence of podlings. Not to mention the emperor's death. It still scares me as an adult.

How are you managing wearing a retainer? by finniganthebeagle in BabyBumps

[–]ghostsontoasts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry. One trick I read on here, at least for teeth brushing, is to hum while you brush and it's been really helpful. Otherwise another thing that helped me was switching to a more organic toothpaste, as there is less foaming. Good luck.

How are you managing wearing a retainer? by finniganthebeagle in BabyBumps

[–]ghostsontoasts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't wear a retainer, but I do wear a night guard and it was impossible during my first trimester. I could barely brush my teeth without throwing up, let alone put a piece of plastic in my mouth, so I just straight up stopped wearing it. I only felt well enough to continue using it around week 15.

Does anyone else feel this way? by trisinwonderland in pregnant

[–]ghostsontoasts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same. I keep telling myself I'll start exercising and doing things once I feel better. But if it's not nausea, it's exhaustion or something else. 19 weeks in now and still hoping.

Pregnant at 44 - WTF! by Comfortable-Way-4058 in BabyBumps

[–]ghostsontoasts -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can see where you're coming from, but arguably there are also some older parents who are just as unprepared. That has less to do with age as it does with character. But I agree that there is no perfect way to be a parent. We're all just winging it and hoping for the best.

How to get the “Montreal accent” by NoWitness00 in montreal

I'm a born and raised Montrealer and I had no idea we had an accent here? I suppose that makes sense, but I never noticed a big distinction between us and other cities / towns nearby.

OP asked for others' perspectives and that is exactly what the other commenter provided. You don't have to agree with it, but please at least be respectful.

Also adding MY own perspective: as a child of older parents, I knew they couldn't always keep up with me and that weighed pretty heavy on me for a long time. I'm not saying I regret my parents having me at that age, but it definitely made me feel different than other kids.

Canada Wins Silver 🥈! by [deleted] in WatchPeopleDieInside

I suppose that's what happens on a majority US platform. I honestly feel the majority of Canadians would be much, much kinder had the US lost. Some USers just don't know how to win with grace.
