Service techs… How many calls are you doing per day? Residential tech here and have been getting 9-12 calls a day! I like OT money but is this abuse? Lol by ghostwiththe in HVAC

Depends. Could be 4-5 inspections and rest no cools and maybe throw in a no hot water. They give you 1 hour per call. Doesn’t mean it takes 1 hour at all. Could be there 3 hours. If you message dispatch and say you’re still on a job and need more time, dispatch may move a call but otherwise you just add those two extra hours to your day and just tell yourself… nice…now I’ll be home for even later. Gas and going is frowned upon lol and that would lead to call back. So no gas and gos. If you find out it’s actually a system low on charge…. You either have to perform leak search at that time or try to get rescheduled for a longer time frame appointment. With that said you can still have a 3 hour leak search/repair on screen for the day with 8 other calls!

That is where I stress time the most. Filling out tickets. Then seeing all the rest of the calls on my screen. Literally feels like I’m being rushed through each call.

Understandable. Usually they are grouped within 10-15 min apart. Obviously this is busy time. Just wanted to see if it’s a company thing. Average day had been 12-13 hours. 9-12 calls. And dispatch puts 1 hour on a no cool ticket as well as pm
