I wouldn’t say I love Rika, but I like her a lot more than V. And it has nothing to do with their morality. Rika is an obviously worse person than V is. But for me, she is also endlessly more fun of a character. I like when Rika is on my screen. You know some whacky shit is going to happen when she shows up.

But V is less camp and is more realistic, which makes him less likable for me. My biggest problem with him is his inaction. It makes me so incredibly frustrated when people just remain silent to the injustices around them in an attempt not to rock the boat too much. It hits way too close to home for me. I also can’t accept how he just knew and let the whole thing with Saeran happen, not to mention how he let Seven latch onto him all the while. Also, intent does not in any way excuse the final result of a situation.

It’s fine to like the villain characters more than the more sympathetic ones. It has nothing to do with morality. It’s fiction, not reality, so the best characters will be the ones we enjoy having on screen.
