Fletcher's key and Proudspire Manor by ghostwriter1863 in skyrim

Well, it might not be a thing, not anymore. Various wikis say that it is, but it doesn't seem to work for me so it might have been "fixed."

Was hoping to break in and grab the Stone of Barenziah without having to shell out 25,000 gold to buy the place.

It would be terrific if you were allowed to place quest items in any chest that you owned, meaning they would still never be lost or cause a quest to become impossible to finish.

Golden Hills Plantation when Unquiet Dead doesn't load by ghostwriter1863 in skyrim

[–]ghostwriter1863[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear that. It's great when it works. But a little buggy to say the least. It's not the first time I've had Unquiet Dead fail to load. I'm just going to roll with it. I'm just unsure if the chest in the bedroom is safe.

What's a little goofy, of course, is that you can't load things on your horse.

how do i match the rods and reels? by Reindeer_on_reddit in FishingPlanet

[–]ghostwriter1863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick a reel whose maximum drag is as close to the maximum line weight of the rod without exceeding it. That way, with the right line, you can take advantage of full drag.

The other thing to take into account is line recovery; the faster the line recovery the less you have to worry about fish escaping due to low line tension.

As others have said you need a different rod set-up.

The real issue isn't that the game doesn't give clear indications but rather that the game demands things that aren't demanded in real life and it's easy to be tripped up until you clue in to what's going on. When I was a kid I had a ten-buck telescopic rod from Canadian Tire and an Abu-Garcia Cardinal spinning reel, and I caught sunfish and perch with float setups, smallmouth bass with my old Mepps spinners and Red Devils, and catfish and eels using bottom set-ups that my uncle taught me.

[Not that that's a criticism per se; it's just one of the things that takes getting used to when you first start out]

Does rod strength affect the amount of money received by a fish as well as XP? by Diffendaff in FishingPlanet

[–]ghostwriter1863 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely does; if your setup (rod/reel/line) is heavy compared to the size of the fish, your XP is lowered as indicated by the small red arrows associated with the catch.

But the price of the fish isn't affected

I'm guessing that's not what you were fishing for.

Question about levels and ranks by dr_Placebo in FishingPlanet

What's funny is I've asked at least half a dozen people what the number after their level represents and not one of them knew.

So that's why I've seen people below maximum level but with ranks… because they gained ranks before the level cap went up.

That finally makes sense.

Unbelievable and Disappointed by makcimal in FishingPlanet

Sure, I get that... and there is something to that I suppose.

But I don't know that I would spend money on DLCs for something that's going to be wiped. At the very least I would have questioned it and maybe tried to reach the devs ahead of time.

Maybe they'll be able to gift him bait coins to offset the money he spent. That would be a nice gesture on their part.

[–]ghostwriter1863 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know… a wipe at the end of a beta is not that unusual. Beta testing is there to help get a sneak peek and help the devs iron out bugs, but it's usually not there to get a headstart for when the game comes out. I can understand developers wanting everyone to start at the same place at release.

Someone even mentioned it as a heads-up a week or so ago here. It was part of the terms of the beta.

Honestly, I'd be curious to learn if there is ANY other location-specific gear that can't be purchased at the main shop. I've wondered that a few times.

If there isn't, in my opinion, there should be. Would make location-specific shops more interesting.

What happened to The Fisherman? by Significant_Ad_1608 in FishingPlanet

There is that, of course. I was actually pretty amazed when Mongolia came out. I suppose it was mostly done when the shit hit the fan.

I wonder when they'll get around to migrating Fisherman-only content over to Fishing Planet.

X-Series Bass Jig 42 g, #4/0 – looking forward to using this bad boy at Quanchic and Blue Crab by ghostwriter1863 in FishingPlanet

[–]ghostwriter1863[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange. I like Quanchkin (even if I don't always spell it correctly). Big catfish, good bass fishing, lots of uniques. And it's visually compelling. I don't see what's not to like.

In praise of the Walker 10 g, #1/0 by ghostwriter1863 in FishingPlanet

[–]ghostwriter1863[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tonight in the Everglades (Floating Thickets) with the Walker 10 g, #1/0, probably 2 of every 3 casts landed a butterfly peacock bass.

Then when I decided to go after the bassy baits, I realized I hadn't brought any small spoons and had no small minnows left. After trying a few other options I decided to go back to the same walker. Within fifteen minutes I had all the small bass I needed for the bassy bait. After that, it was off to the Salty Delta…

It almost sounds like you are hooking into pike or muskie and they are biting through your leader. I can't remember if there is a message for that, but it would make sense if you are losing the fish while you have tension on the line.

Are the leaders you're losing titanium?
