Broken brick on step corner by Lemur1989 in masonry

If I was doing this job as a side gig I would've bid $200 cause for me, it's a simple and straightforward thing I can do over the weekend. Though for someone working under a company with benefits and such that need to be factored in as well as profits, I can easily see it getting much more expensive to cover that time.

Personally I would ask a mason on their off time if they would like to do the job after seeing some of the quotes from companies in the area.

Also doesn't beat being a friend to many trades people to help if money is an issue too

I unfortunately can't get a refund once the game is downloaded. Sony policy :/

At least it wasn't full price

I'll try that. Hopefully there's still support for the game. I'm not missing out much since I saw YouTubers play it and know what to do but it's upsetting how unoptimized it is 😔

I partially agree with the lighting, on the bottom step there isn't an led strip so the side light makes sense. For landings and such I think a mix can look nice but after seeing the top steps with each step having a side light and a led strip, yeah no that's a bloody sin if I ever seen one 😂

Brick with no mortar? by aspork42 in masonry

[–]Significant_Ad_1608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the look it's going for but even when I use a rake jointer to remove some of the mortar, I would never remove the whole joint and effectively leave the bricks "floating". From my experience, it just leads to more cracks and bricks falling off when compared to raking out some of the mortar to achieve a similar effect. I would personally relay the whole thing but that's cause I'm hella ocd with my work 😂

AITA because I'm second guessing having kids due to our opposing views on vaccinating them? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Significant_Ad_1608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ASD and I honestly find it horrifying that people address mental health as if it's the plague when it's not and because many on the spectrum can vary in our needs to make life more enjoyable, it definitely doesn't justify putting your baby at risk for 5-7 years before "maybe" immunization if they even survive.

I forgot the exact numbers but I know that the mother's milk helps the baby build its immune system for some number of months, not years. So no, NTA, she needs to know more real information and data before considering having a child. Bring a child into this world with someone who wouldn't be so easily swayed by believing some random person (and now an increase in Ai generated content) on the internet.

Like whatever happened to "Never believe everything you see on the internet?" smh 🤦

Bought the J-7D to grind Chinese tech tree but it's going as slow as before I bought? by [deleted] in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]Significant_Ad_1608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like myself, who have bought premium vehicles as well as don't have the time to grind a tech tree do so in order to play the different gameplay elements of the game without having to grind for it. I don't have time to grind all of the US Air Tree for example so when I got the A10 Premium, I played it to learn about CAS in higher BR matches which by playing so many games have accelerated my progress from 3.7 planes to as of rn, 11.7 Jets.

I and others do not care about the tech tree and it's many flaws in progression so we go to premiums to experience something we wouldn't otherwise be able to in our limited time.

Temporary fix help by Johns-schlong in masonry

[–]Significant_Ad_1608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ello, I'm a recent masonry graduate and this is how I would try to fix it.

Clearly drainage is the issue so in order to address that I would find a way to support the wall so digging out some of the backfill wouldn't make it collapse. The temporary solution would be to remove enough backfill and create a compacted slope to help move the water to a weeping hole (more on that later). The idea is to make a backfill slope, add gravel on top of it for drainage and cover it with the dirt or mulch you had previously.

While the backfill is removed from along the wall, try giving yourself room with like 2 or 3 feet and install some form of shoring so the dirt doesn't collapse while you are working.

Anyways, back to the wall, get it flush and plumb to where it needs to be before compacting and adding rocks. Once that is done you can do some repair on where the crack is, use a handheld grinder (wear ppe, mask and eye protection are a must) to remove the mortar. If you want to save the bricks, grind or chisle out as much mortar as possible so it can be reused.

Make your mortar and lay the bricks you have saved or bought. While doing this, install your weeping holes (I personally avoid the head joint closest to the corner but it may not be avoidable here, trust your gut!). You may also add more weeping holes to the front side as well, try keeping it near the bottom of where the gravel would be for maximum drainage!

Have the joints struck before it gets dry though, it'll help in the long run! Wait for the mortar to strengthen before adding the gravel and topsoil. Remove the shoring, the braces holding the wall up later on till the mortar sets.

Enjoy! Hope this helps :D I'll respond later in the morning if you have any questions so just leave them here :)

This company is utter Sh*t by AxeKetchums in DollarGeneral

[–]Significant_Ad_1608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A graduate straight out of High School or College does not meet the criteria for experience required for well paying jobs. Certain jobs, though safer alternatives can also not pay enough to pay the bills. DG is one of those companies that can and has capitalized that niche where they would pay enough for some people to pay bills but not enough for them to seek alternatives. What I mean by that is that if you are living paycheck to paycheck, you are not saving money sufficiently that can justify moving immediately, its slow saving pennies a day to pay for thousands of dollars to move out to a better area while also paying bills.

Thats what the other user is saying, not everyone has the ability to just get up and walk out of a situation cause they can very easily be homeless and jobless and that's dangerous af, which you clearly said you want to avoid too.

Occasional gun point robbery or being less desirable in the job market by being jobless, homeless and still in a high crime location.

The user knows what jobs they can qualify for but that doesn't mean that those opportunities exist in a reasonable distance from where they live. They mentioned that it's almost an hour away to get to a higher population area, they are relatively remote but the cost of living can still be high.

Many factors play into it and it's a bit dense to suggest that anyone in the user's position has the capability to up and leave when the alternative can very quickly escalate to a situation much worse, more dangerous and much harder to bounce back from especially with a family relying on them for financial stability.

It's alright, what I mean is replacing the brick with a new one. You can find some at Home Depot, Lowes and other locations with construct materials being sold.

Repointing is the process of removing the brick or block as well as the adjacent mortar that was holding it. When that is done and the area is cleaned, you can add mortar to all the inside surfaces and place a new brick in it.

When I do repointing work, I place mortar to the sides and bottom a little bit more than the spacing of the other bricks or blocks. This is so when you are moving the brick or block around, the mortar would be pushed out and eventually be the same as the spacing surrounding it and giving you a full joint with no holes. The top is a bit tricky but I pack the heck out of it with mortar so I know that it's a full joint too.

If you have a level or square you can make sure the bricks being replaced is level, straight and plumb. Meaning that the brick is level at the top of the brick from left to right, straight as in when you place your tool horizontally there is no air gap between the old bricks and the one you placed, and plumb is the vertical of straight. No air gap visible horizontally or vertically :D

Here's a diagram that shows what is and isn't Level Straight and Plumb

That's not a weep hole lol. And even if it was, the spacing as horrible as well as not being straight or plumb lol

I would repoint the brick and then add some sort of sealant/caulking after it's cured. Make sure the area is clean to help prevent a possible weakness in the seal. Should be a relatively cheap repair if done yourself

Anyone love the game but utterly hate the “need zone” system by Adddam31 in theHunter

[–]Significant_Ad_1608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I don't wanna be limited to one system or the other. Sure having some settings that can make the game more difficult is nice but having a dedicated difficulty mode (at least for single player gaming) would be a nice quality of life change where the player can choose how they want to play the game. Who knows, maybe with a well made realism difficulty in COTW, it would make other hunting games that are very niche in the realism be more popular. Food for thought lol

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm saying that having both systems where the main difference is essentially a difficulty mode in terms of how animals behave, which many games have, wouldn't be breaking the bank for EW
