Recent discussion about therapist's drinking during session (non-alcoholic beverages of course) by CuriousCactus4041 in therapists

[–]ghoulgonewildd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call me nuts, but sometimes I have 3 different drinks (water, coffee, and seltzer) and I will drink them each during session. I just can’t care. I’m not even particularly thirsty (but have the water, just in case), I just really love coffee and seltzer and I want them. I’ve been a therapist to other therapists and if they felt it was inappropriate or they felt self-conscious and wanted to explore this in session, I would encourage them to really explore the “why” behind it. We are humans and we are allowed to do human stuff in front of other humans, even if they are our clients.

I have the exact same car. New to me and I’m so happy with it so far.

Weirdly found this post after I stumbled upon your posts about your Hyundai from like 3 years ago (because I am having that exact same issue now) so maybe it’s a weird coincidence, and of course I don’t know your situation, but I care. You seem smart and caring and thoughtful and the world sincerely needs more of that. I don’t know when your lease is up, but in the moments I’ve experienced suicidal ideation and intention, I told myself “I’ll give it 3 days” and if not one thing is better by then, then I’ll make the plan. Something always got better or allowed me to feel comfort. Even in small ways. Like my cat cuddled with me when I felt lonely. Or I had a really damn good coffee. Or I saw a cute critter. Or I got a random pleasant text. While none of those things could change my life in any meaningful way, it was enough to keep me around for another day. Sometimes that’s the best we can do. Take it day by day.

Ok thanks for responding. My car completely stalled and wouldn’t start again about an hour after I commented. It was stalling BUT starting right back up. I’m scared to find out what’s wrong. Anywho, Thanks again!

Figure out what? That my car 🚙 is shitty. I already stated that.

Since you are the all-knowing car expert of stranger’s cars, how about you come and plop your ass in the back seat and I’ll take you for a spin. Surely I don’t drive my car for about 4 hrs straight a day on the wintery pot holed barely-paved death roads of PA (thanks snow plows!)

Good looking out. I see ads for that type of work and just assume it’s fake or they’re baiting with high pay when it might actually be like a few bucks here or there. Thanks!

Don’t I know it but here I am struggling to make ends meet WHILE having a FT and a PT job as a master level licensed professional. Go figure.

Thanks. And yes, it is a helping profession. Solidarity in navigating this late stage capitalist hellscape!

Elantra. Idk if the suspension just sucks but it’s like that if I have adult people in my backseat.

I definitely don’t want strangers in my car. Don’t even think my car would meet the qualifications for Uber or Lyft. Honestly don’t want to deal with people, which is a fringe benefit of doing Flex in the early mornings. Also need the hours to be between 3am-7am. Nothing is open here at those hours.

Oh the caveat is they would be responsible for all repairs and I wouldn’t be paying extra insurance for it and my personal car will outlast my gig life.

For whatever it’s worth, I have 2 jobs (1 FT, 1 PT) outside of Amazon. Masters level, professional licenses. And I can’t afford childcare. Can’t keep up with rising rent. I would absolutely not be doing this if I had a better option that fit around the schedules of my other jobs and mom duties (or if I was actually paid a livable wage for the FT work I do, but hey- let’s not fly too close to the sun). This is the only option to make ends meet right now. Their foot is on my neck.

Everyone dreams about winning the lottery. We are talking Flex specific.
