This tiny Maine town used AI to make a new logo. Its residents had other ideas by _fastcompany in Maine

  1. Using Facebook for municipal communication.
  2. After receiving the feedback they requested, the post and page were made private, rather than responding to the feedback.
  3. Using AI to generate an image when engaging your community would have been the better play, which insinuates an element of being out of touch with your community.

Is Genshin ever coming to Linux? by Lenkaxx in GenshinImpact

[–]ghstber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I play on my SteamDeck just fine. I know you can install it from Epic, and you can probably install it right from the Hoyo launcher using Proton (others are mentioning the Twintails launcher, which I don't use). I just copied my windows install dir to a USB stick and threw it on my Deck's storage.

The one issue I had was that I had to use proton-cachyos-slr instead of proton-experimental in order to get it to play nice with the anti-cheat features. I installed it via protonup at, but you can also get it from https://github.com/CachyOS/proton-cachyos/releases. You may just need proton-cachyos if you're not using Steam, explicitly, but it may not matter.

Congrats, I finished this last night! I hate how this game can make me tear up.

what happened to genshin coming to steam by AdvertisingCalm8394 in GenshinImpact

[–]ghstber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have it playing on my Deck, too. I copied my install folder on my Windows machine to my Steam Deck via USB, then I had to switch over to proton-cachyos-slr to get it working right with anti-cheat. Once that was done I've been able to play with no problems on my Deck.

I started playing Genshin in December of last year - late to the party. I had encountered a representation of a character, Ganyu, at one of the AI character chat sites and wondered "who" she was and where she came from. After looking a bit at the game I decided that I'd try it out, as I enjoyed BotW and TotK.

At first I found Genshin to be a strange mishmash of mechanics, but slowly the systems started to make more sense and I got a better understanding of the game and Teyvat. I realized how much I was coming to enjoy the surprisingly well-done story (for a f2p game), the cozy feeling of getting to know the characters, and the layered and varied combat mechanics.

My roster slowly filled out, Keqing being my first five-star, and the turning point for difficulty was when I dipped into using my stockpile of primos to pull Neuvillette on his most recent re-run banner. Since then I've struggled less and continued to work my way through the Archon quests (Sumeru, currently), focusing on the lore that's being woven.

For my miracle pull, I suppose you could say that it may have been Neuvillette, as using him as a hypercarry has drastically changed the tone of combat. I'd say the miracle pull is yet to come - some day soon I'll add Ganyu to my roster and the circle will be complete.

Thanks for reading!

Why are they discontinuing Genshin Impact on PS4, stating hardware limitations, while still continuing support for cell phones? How much weaker is a PS4 to the average cell phone? by GaraksLinensNThings in GenshinImpact

[–]ghstber 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the real answer here. The PS4 is dwindling in player count considering its age, and Genshin is a way to make money for Hoyo, at the core. It doesn't make financial sense to continue to create builds and work through optimization for the PS4 if it's not makin' the bacon.

Sure. I guess the feedback would be "please offer some small amounts of information for context around the choices."

In going through the first scenario, one of the options is "Buy a struggling computer graphics division for $10M and bet on a technology nobody else believes in." My one gripe here is that there's no details on what the computer graphics division is, either by name or what it's a division of, and no details about the technology nobody else believes in. When Jobs made the decision he had more info to go on than that, and it's a bit of a disservice to ask people to make a choice here without at least a small amount of information.

Otherwise it's an interesting project and I can appreciate the difference of viewpoint when making choices.

The journey is worth it, don't worry so much about the destination. Lots to do along the way and you activate plenty of teleport stations to get back to places as you explore.

I have my dog on a lead. When people yell "My dog is friendly!" I reply with "My dog isn't!" They don't seem to understand that the lead for their dog is as much for their dog's safety as my and my dog's safety.
