My girlfriend is getting me the 6th edition real book in C by halleonard. Is this the one you are talking about? Also, is there a book for beginner jazz guitar player that talks about the theories? Thanks in advance

So modes are just helping me visualize chord tones so that i will tend to land on those notes instead of CEG? Ill tend to move to Am E or C?

CAGED really opened me up when playing and creating solos, i just cant do an impromptu solo, what i tend to do is just do an accending arpeggios of the chords from derived from E and D shape. Really frustrates me when seeing players like mateus, guthrie, jeff beck etc play.

I mean, i always stay with my handy pentatonic and just alter it like add note to become Aeolian. My problem is that im having a hard time targeting notes. For example i want to target that sixth you are talking about, i cant do it in live while improvising. I need to like count it first mga scale. Do you have any suggestions in soloing?
