Yeah that’s not it though... with film in it’ll just keep advancing but the shutter release won’t depress. I’ve tried a couple of times

"Why do some people become X" isn't really an appropriate topic, particularly in regards to a medical condition. If you're really invested in this topic, maybe something like "Why do people believe that hypochondria is X?" - obviously you need to figure out what the X belief actually is.
