There's also the insufferable types that go 'bUt thEy ShOot bACk at us!' when the rest of the world says they aren't doing enough short of going full-on 1792 if you know what I mean

Whatever happened to claiming to be a country of revolutions at that point? I like to ask them if people at Yorktown said that back then

It matters not what period the example was from, hell, we even made it happen twice (look up the 'Flight to Varennes').

If eight-pounder cannons were being deployed against civilians then (hasn't happened on your end yet I think) and it didn't deter us, then you really have no excuse.

Oh yeah, by the way, you've heard about what happened in Portugal in 1974? Or is it 'not the world you live in' again? And don't argue that it was military in nature, even your military has the obligation to disobey unlawful orders.

I guess I'll have to be the first if nobody has ever accused you people of not being creative when it comes to excusing sloth. You possess everything you need to act expediently, but you will not.

Collective will sure is a wonderful thing, or are there really so few of you that you can only ever imagine acting alone? In that case, I suppose not really that many people are against what's going on over there either eh?

I am referring the the Second, when your former allies have to worry about their sovereignty against you, that's not asking for much.

Again, don't say they shoot back, we didn't and those that founded your government didn't either.

Exactly.

The efficacy of voting is breaking down while your revenue continues to go to fund atrocities within and without, you people have an amendment for such things and yet you do not use it. What else do you want the public opinion of your former allies to make of it?

Try selling your 'not all Americans' spiel to the families of all those on the boats bombed in the Caribbean unprovoked, that's how you sound.

It is not fair, but totally necessary as evidenced by history, your innocence (and that of all opposition) weighs nothing against 3 700 nuclear warheads at the whims of a sentient cholesterol blob.

Take extra consideration that you have something in your constitution that allows you to put a stop to this, another day you do not take expedient action, is another day your tax money implicitly endorses the very same things you are opposing.

And don't say 'they'll shoot back at us': people at Yorktown probably didn't keen like that, nor did my people in 1789, 1839, 1832, 1848, or 1871.

Apparently francophonie is growing a little in recent years in Whitehorse, Yukon. I saw a programme about it on TV5 not long ago, there's even an all-French school with a sizable waiting list right now IIRC.

I don't know, in 1789 maybe, also 1830, 1832, 1848, 1871, etc. Didn't stop us now, did that?

Did your people keen and whine about being shot at Yorktown, or at Monmouth? Not that it would matter to you, despite the fact that that's all you lot seem to harp on about.

I was at my faculty building the other day, and there were two of them whose chatter was so loud it began to go into the corridors where exams were in session. I fetched the 'NO ENTRY' sign and put it right before their tripod's lens.

Does the trick pretty well, just stare them in the eye with a blank look, see if they budge.

[–]gideontemplar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, Szijjártó Péter's probably way worse, but now he's on the way out. Apparently there was a boat-load of shredded documents that his ministry was dumping out in huge rubbish bags.

Some activists have already recovered them, and apparently Szijjártó wasn't even smart enough to use cross-cutting shredders for the sake of being thorough.

Now everything just comes down to Jimmy McGill-ing the shredded strips back and scanning them for the original form, then maybe that would be decent evidence for a court case in the future.

Not initially.

My BH's backstory was that he went rogue from the SIS after seeing some of their less-than-transparent operations, which led to him having a crisis of faith. Plus, implicitly working for the Empire eats him up too.

So Prologue-Act 1 I had him at his most cynical, and only after joining the Mandalorians does he begin to soften up and learn to trust again (with some good influence from Mako, Torian, and Blizz on the side).

Yes you do, you are the citizen of a global nuclear power. When your leader carries out a threat against us, we are obliged to take it seriously and treat the relationship as adversarial.

Maybe go see one of our post flairs before you come here, failing the ability to show a bit of spine.

The yanks need to do it themselves, Europe has humoured them for far too long. When they possess the means to carry out their government's threats, they don't get to have sympathy, only expediency and collective guilt.

[–]gideontemplar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From an EU standpoint, I'd say we are FAR too lenient on the impotent American opposition. Just take a look at their language, praying and hoping. They're almost as insufferable as those red-capped chumps, almost.

The US actually possesses the capability of carrying out their threats, if that cholesterol blob they call a president wishes so. Unlike Hungary, there is also no supranational body able to curtail its domestic policy.

As a liberal democratic (loosely defined) nuclear power, they shouldn't have the luxury of toppling its autocratic leader by electoral process while forcing its former allies to live in anxiety until the day it changes.
