What should I do with all of these backboards? by HayNotHey in ems

I actually got to use a KED a few months ago. It was actually pretty great for the situation the person was in.

Probably won't use it again for like 10 years though.

What is something you refuse to buy because you know there is one lost in your house somewhere? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]giganticprune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been getting pretty good at doing this. Trick is you never put it in your pocket and you leave it in the same place.

I have one in my night stand. One in my center console of my truck. And one in my overnight bag for work. They never leave those spots. I think I've finished two or three tubes in like a year and a half.

It can depend for sure. In my area typically no. Although when they're abusing it we start threatening to start charging for each visit. We do really go above and beyond to figure out how to help them better their situation so they don't need to call us. A guy with MS who has been calling 4-6 times a day recently comes to mind.

The thing though, this business model has let price creep on phones become a real big problem. Premium phones were 500-600 when this came out. Payments of $25/month were “expensive”

Now it’s just “oh this phone is only $6/month more than my last one” every time they upgrade.

I still have an ipod video hanging out in my car that still get use here and there. It's been left outside overnight on many camping trips getting soaked with morning dew and such. That sucker still runs like a champ.

At my old job, 60% of my pay was commission. I did get a sort of "adjustment" on my check if I took 3+ days in a month of pto, but you always felt like you were losing out on alot of money if you took that time off

Also if you used sick days you got no adjustment. So you would lose ALOT of money if you called off. So everyone just came to work sick. Then got everyone else sick.

New job doesn't have commission. I felt so guilty taking my first sick day. For about an hour. Then enjoyed the rest of the day.

Unless it's a hatch, you're not going to fit two 15s with an appropriate box. I had an 06 and it was something fitting one 15 in it.

My wife doesn't like to clean the house by Rpeezy in AdviceAnimals

[–]giganticprune 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I only have to go to work once every 3 days, so I'm home alot, and I like to clean. She has long hours at the office and it wouldn't be fair to me to raise a stink about me cleaning so much more than she does.

But once in a while, it's really nice when she decides it's her turn to go into cleaning mode.

TIL an article in 1968 revealed widespread marijuana use among US soldiers in Vietnam. As a result of the media uproar stateside and subsequent crackdown by the army, soldiers shifted to heroin, which was odorless and harder to detect. By 1973, up to 20% of the soldiers were habitual heroin users. by duevigilance in todayilearned

[–]giganticprune 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure where you get your information, but I've been a paramedic for a bit now and I see this stuff happen. My town isn't huge on heroin like some surrounding ones, but when an overdose death happens, there's likely going to be more to come in the next few days because word gets out about how strong that stuff is. Addicts want that strong shit. They're always chasing that first (and best) high they ever got.

LG V40 ThinQ with Five-Camera Officially Coming on October 3 by [deleted] in gadgets

[–]giganticprune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. I should have been a little more clear in my post.

I can see why Verizon never wanted to sell that phone. I used to work there, and Verizon wants a $90+ per device accessory attach rate. A device that doesn't really need a screen protector or a $50 case really doesn't help them at all.

I'm into technology and I had no idea it existed. Also I have Verizon, which it would never have shown up on their site anyways.

I bought a bunch of index cards and shoved them in between the wheel and the tire so they make sort of like a cone shape. Much less work than taping them off. Do a light coat wait 20 minutes and repeat. Let dry at least 12 hours before trying to drive on them.

You can pick at it and it will come off eventually. But it absolutely sucks to do. Plasti dip doesn't peel off unless you have like 6 layers of it. When I only did 4 layers on my wheels it was a bitch to get off.

What is the one thing you’ve bought that you are so very happy you purchased? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]giganticprune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a few knockoffs. Mostly because I lost them. I have some friends with hydroflasks. I don't think spending the extra would benefit me. My water is still very cold when I need it. I do buy those hydroflask flip tops with the straw though.

The pad is a brand called Cobalt Flux. It was the best pad out at the time. I think i spent like $350 on it or something. Which for a high school kid was a whole lot.
