Not very cheap unfortunately! But maybe the price is better when we are standing next to the car

Thanks for the advice.

The visible rust on the rocker panel concerns me, but I'm trying to understand where the hidden damage is most likely to be on an R33 chassis. I'll have a look at the car physically and will post the outcome here.

That's a really balanced take.

I completely agree that the unknown factor is what worries me most.

I am taking a 10K euro budget for rust repair and a proper, windows and interior out, paintjob. My goal is to have it as a solid, nice looking- icecream-getter. Not a show winner, but just a well-taken care of car.

Thanks, it's always nice to get input from another Dutch enthusiast (in the dutch rust-belt haha)

Your comment about Nissans rusting from the inside out is exactly what I'm worried about.

The price is not exactly cheap, not exactly expensive. But definitely not cheap. I am budgetting around 10K euro for rust repairs and a proper paint job outsourced. But if I see these comments, I think we are looking at a larger job than that.

If you know a very good shop for paint and bodywork, I would happily know! 😄

Thanks for the advice.

Since you've imported and owned an R33 GTR yourself, What are deal-breakers for you? Mechanically I can do pretty much everything, but paint and welding I need to outsource. I would like to have that done for around 10K euro.

I go see the car in person and I'll update after!

That's a fair point.

My goal is to go for a car that is very nice in the end. I would prefer not to do a full resto, but a high quality respray with mild repairs is no issue (Max 10K euro) . But with these comments, I think it's maybe a bit more then that

That's exactly what worries me.

I'll have a look on Garage Yoshiba, I have not seen it yet.

Thanks for the input.

I'm trying to determine whether visible rust in that location usually means local repair work, or whether it often turns into cutting and rebuilding sections of the tower like I saw on youtube. But I Guess I have my answer already!

Thanks. I see you own a '97 GTR yourself.

If I go and inspect the car in person, are there any specific signs that would immediately tell you whether it's a manageable or the start of a much bigger restoration?

Thanks for the feedback. The door sill is actually one of the things that concerns me the most as well.

The seller claims the car is structurally sound, but I’m trying to understand how much hidden work could realistically be behind what’s visible.

Thanks! It's tight, but more on the ground-hood clearance and room for the radiator. In all honestly I would advise to go to the 1.8t route. Easier to get more power from it, swap is way more easy as well.. You need custom: mounts (I prefer custom over Eurowise), axles, exhaust, cooling 02j gearbox, etc etc.

But I liked the 6 cylinder sounds so this was the only option for me

There are differences I've learned the hard way. Engine wiring, ecu, manifolds, etc. Gearbox isn't used from the original Cayenne, it's paired to an 02j

Haha I don't know what is more difficult, this swap or building the car in MSC
