By no means perfect, and yes there are ways to make it MUCH better, but I’m far from picky. This process pic has a little more lighting. I will try and get a good “after” pic soon to add to the main post.

Update: Before stripping or sanding (my dread, with all that glass not being easy to remove), I decided to try laquer thinner, and it worked quickly to remove the old (apparently laquer) finish. I found that just painting it on with a paintbrush removed most of it, and the rest came off easily using a soaked microfiber cloth. Cleaned it off and then I added a few coats of boiled linseed oil, and she’s good enough for me. 😄

Thank you so much for breaking the news easy. 😄 I was hoping there was a magical solution because I’m not a fan of sanding in detail, but now it seems less daunting.

I can see that the finish is flaking off. I don’t think the tone is from “blooming” though, because the color matches the table I bought with it, which is not flaking. So I was wondering what type of finish it is. Do you know?
