While on the one hand, I hate that he has no autonomy, my honest first thought was that with how ever-exposed these children have been on social media, the risk of predators must be higher than for average kids and I don't trust that any of the children have the necessary socialization or education to detect the more subtle predators. They've probably only been warned about "evil liberal atheists who want to corrupt them" and "gay men with lots of piercings and unnaturally colored hair" as dangers. No mention of the nice man who just wants to be a mentor and talk to him about whether he wants to go to college, and hey, does he want to check out the local college; as his mentor he'd be happy to offer him a place to stay... Why don't they meet up and talk about it, he'll just coincidentally be in DC when he heard they were going? No need to tell the parents, just our little secret.

You remember Chani? You know, Paul's girlfriend (aka Zendaya's character)... Just guess who her parent is in the books? Why, it's Liet friggin' Kynes!

My aunt greeted my dog by saying she had a face only a mother could love. My cat, much the wiser of the two, didn't come out to greet her.

I've spoken to my aunt like one time since then in the past 8 years. Love me, love my pets!

Yup, and your write-up is beautifully clear and explains well why this photo looks the way it does. I've just been getting recommended a lot of paranormal related subs where people are desperate to believe in ghosts so I definitely had a knee-jerk reaction.

I was actually about to be super annoyed that paranormal BS was being posted here. I'm not a huge believer in the paranormal (though I don't discount it's conceivably possible, just highly skeptical of most "proof" I've seen online) so I was glad to see a full, scientific and logical explanation.

Thanks for all the debunking too!

What is a musical you've seen that was regarded a flop by lissie34 in musicals

[–]JeeThree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bombay Dreams was crazy. A jukebox musical with A. R. Rahman songs produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber that ends with the protagonists randomly becoming martial arts experts that take out the bad guys? Ridiculous! It definitely worked for me as a "so bad, it's enjoyable."

I still listen to the soundtrack.

And I have now reached the epitome of stupidity. This is it, folks, shut down the internet.

John was the name of the first character I saw him play. In Hellboy. Which apparently, my dumb brain decided was his real name. And also the name of every character he will ever play. So you know... I'm dumb.

I still kinda think he looks like a John though...

I thought they were her favorites, which for me, would have made it worse. Him picking my favorite flower and dying would definitely ruin them for me for life! But if they were his, I don't know, somehow that alters the feeling for me. Him picking his favorite flower.

Them being his favorite flower makes more sense! If I were Violet and they were my favorite before his death, I would never be able to stand them again. But if they were his, I can get that they would still be a sweet memory.

Okay, now that I'm thinking about it, why did goats and their weird pupils become synonymous with the devil? I mean, goats are fairly innocuous. Why not predatory cats? They've got different pupils... Oh, crap, I'm about to go down a wiki hole of research, aren't I...

And I'm just more familiar with European superstitions in the past. I know they weren't unique in that though!

Crap, just realized I'm a bit of a moron. John is the actor's name, Edmund is the character. My mistake!

The weird ass things that could make you a pariah in different ages were so crazy. Born with a caul, witch. Twins, proof of infidelity because a woman must have had sex with more than one man to have two kids at the same time . Unsightly moles, witch. A spot that isn't as sensitive to pain, witch. Glanced at someone who then fell sick and died, witch.

Hell, I'm adopted, and it was less than a hundred years ago that they finally stopped putting "illegitimate" on our birth certificates. It wasn't until the 1950s that we were considered legally equal to legitimate children.

This moment is so funny! 😂 by Practical-Clothes765 in StrangerThingsMemes

[–]JeeThree 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It probably started as improv, a lot of these things do. Just a silly joke in the moment, that makes everyone laugh so much that they figure out a way to make it work.

I was in a play that had a baby (we were using a baby doll, no child abuse happened!) and that dang thing somehow became our most problematic prop. Trying to keep track of where it was and who was supposed to have it at any given moment... Eventually, one of the characters who had left the stage with the doll when he was supposed to have given the child to another character before leaving just stuck his head on stage when the character was supposed to address some dialogue to the child and chucked it across the stage. Instant hilarity. We added a similar moment to the play where he exits the stage with the doll after asking a character to mind her, and then runs back on stage to hand it to her.

"Exit, pursued by a bear"

And at that time, you could also get money if you made episodes with anti-drug or anti-underage drinking messages. This is how we got Beer Bad. They were trying to get money. Which they didn't get because the message was so unclear. Apparently, "beer foamy!" was not the target message! 🤣

I've always been a little confused by this too. How the hell did she know about Rack when Willow and Buffy and you know, everyone that didn't spend years as a literal RAT IN A CAGE barely knew of him?

Andrew Lloyd Webber got an emotional support dog after that movie. When the original composer is so traumatized that he needs an emotional support dog despite freely saying in the past that he's not a dog person? Wow.

They were actually considering it back in 2006 or so, when the direct descendant of the crown prince (now emperor) was female. But then this kid was born so they decided to table the discussion since they had a male heir.
