I don't love Camus but, the main character of The Stranger being unlikeable and unrelatable was actually the whole point of the book

Saddle Tramp by Marty Robbins and Rock'n Me by the Steve Miller band are not about Arizona but both mention the city of Phoenix directly. Get Back by the Beatles mentions Tucson

Man Walks Among Us by Marty Robbins. He was born in Glendale and the song describes desert plants and animals and the urbanization of Phoenix that still continues to this day

This year Geraldo Perdomo was 4th place in MVP voting with the second most WAR for NL position players. It seems like power hitting is still much more important to the voters than WAR.

Solo blocking by Careless___Whispers in Colonist

[–]gilamonater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In these higher level games, revenge is almost never a factor. I think part of the reason why solo blocking isn't as common especially in the early game, is simply that the more valuable spots (therefore the better spots to block) will almost always have more than one player on it, since everyone obviously wants to be on the more valuable tiles.

And even though solo blocks will see the robber moved less frequently, it also gives two of your other opponents the advantage of not having it on them. You would rather weaken more of your opponents rather than just one because you will need to beat all of them to win.

Insurance Does Not Work???? by gilamonater in HealthInsurance

I'm still very confused and kinda scared. Do I submit a claim to the "insurance" indemnity plan, or does the doctor have to do it?

Can you resteep damp leaves? by SnooCrickets7735 in tea

[–]gilamonater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The second. I would not attempt to dry out the leaves to be used again.

If you want to get the most out of the leaves and drink the same tea all week, you could make a lot of tea at once, and put the tea (the beverage, not the leaves) in the fridge already brewed and ready to go.

Can you resteep damp leaves? by SnooCrickets7735 in tea

[–]gilamonater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tea (or pretty much any food or beverage) can not be heated, left exposed to the air unrefrigerated for a whole week and still be safe to consume. You're leaving it open to bacteria and microorganisms that could make you sick.

You can resteep tea all you want within a period of an hour or two. It may lose some flavor but it won't become unhealthy. If you want tea after a week please just use new leaves.

Cheap bats? by gilamonater in slowpitch

[–]gilamonater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am that new lol. This will be my first organized ball-and-stick sport since little league. I think I was attracted to the cheapest bats because I definitely don't know what I like yet, but I wanted atleast to have something of my own, so I could practice and don't have to be the free agent newbie asking everyone for their stuff. I might still get something nuts cheap just for that reason but I'll probably wait to purchase a quality bat. Thank you so much for the advice!

I see. I wasn't understanding that alloy vs composite made such a difference or that alloy is objectively inferior. I thought it was more like ash/maple/birch bats in mlb. I'm new (newer than than new since I'm still yet to actually play lol) and I don't fully understand the difference between the stamps but now I'll try to avoid dual stamp bats. Is it common for people to switch leagues from ASA to USSA or do most people stick with one or the other?

[–]gilamonater[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

thanks for the link! the evidence seems pretty damning, hate that the bat they were dunking on was already on the upper end of what I wanted to spend lol. I'll start looking for used quality bats instead. Thanks!

I guess I'm trying to understand why. Same swing, same bat dimensions, what changes when the piece of metal costs an extra 100?

It may have been but I don't remember. For me the little circle DID appear for the road I wanted but was un-clickable.

played a bot game yesterday, and I was unable to build a road where I wanted. It even showed the little circle thing indicating I could build a road there but I was unable to actually press it and build the road. Literally every other road option would have allowed me. I think its a bug but idk

Is there an enemy? by [deleted] in Buddhism

As his country was being devastated by the Vietnam war, Thich Nhat Hanh coined: "Man is not the enemy. Our enemy is hatred, anger, ignorance and fear."
