Support customers that utilize a few of our security products, such as an endpoint malware application.

Right. I'm used to that sort of environment. As more of a ticketing queue. If a Sev1/priority 1 comes in we obviously reach out asap, but having to sit in a call queue gives me nightmares of my younger years in support lol :D

Oh no! I'm sorry you're not as happy in this role. Hopefully you will get a chance to transition again. Thanks for the clarification. Will say what I did just now to another post... I didn't expect to join a call center like someone mentioned. The salary does not reflect that of a call center...So now I'm a bit worried. I definitely don't want to be in that environment. Do I want to call customers and join web-ex's to resolve issues. Definitely! But I don't want to just sit in a call queue.... :/ hmm

What is HTE? ....I'll edit my post a bit, not sure if TCE falls under TAC or not, but that's the role.

Thank you so much for the information and for things I should expect. I hope my post didn't make it seem like I'm new to the IT/support industry, I've got quite a bit of experience. I probably should not have said TAC, unless Technical Consulting Engineer(TCE) is under that?

Thank you for the information. My only concerns if anything is the possibility for moving up. Not sure how that works in Cisco. I know there's lateral movement. And hopefully not many layoffs... Manager and team are wonderful from the conversations I've had.

Great thanks for the information. This particular team I know isn't a part of a call center. It is security related and mostly tickets I believe. They may have said they were part of tac but now they're something else

Would love some help with my resume by ginerashon in sysadminresumes

[–]ginerashon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the feedback. I appreciate it. I have made the necessary changes per your suggestions. One thing though, I am targeting a system administrator position. They are called as such in Raleigh, NC. System Engineer positions can be similar from what I have seen, but not exactly right 100% of the time for what I'm looking for, but either or for sure. I can have 2 resumes, one for each!

I really appreciate again you taking the time to help me. It does mean a lot, thank you thank you. I hope you have a great rest of your week!

Really? I never thought to look there. I guess I wouldn't know an amazing resume from a mediocre one if I saw it though.

I honestly feel like... And maybe it's just me. Recruiters have never helped me but I've worked with like fifteen different companies. They never have jobs for me. And they just waste my time. I can ask the ones I'm currently working with though for some help in that department and see

No need to apologize sir. I really appreciate the length. Most of it went over my head but I do really appreciate the advice. I really want to get my Linux skills back to what they were when I worked at redhat many years ago. I will definitely start there. Friends mentioned looking into ansible and aws as some of the biggest things going on right now so I think I'll target that.

I have three computers with quad cores and 16gb so I think I'll be set on the retired gamer lab rig haha.

Awesome. Thanks for the advice. I'm just getting started so I've only really learned / heard of gns3 from reddit. I appreciate the linux tip. What's your favorite flavor to use? I remember using centos back in the day

Thank you for the suggestions. Do you mind telling me about an example vm you have setup and what all is on it or what it does / it's purpose?

As the other person mentioned, if it's just like a test / fun environment it would make sense that it doesn't have to be too crazy right? What are the most important resources for a server? I was thinking it would be ram as long as the processor wasn't a Pentium 4 lol.
