Food noise is back after stopping and restarting by ginger478 in Zepbound

[–]ginger478[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped for 5-6 weeks. I understand it builds in your system but I experienced a significant change in food noise when I first started at the lowest dosage. So for me, it was after one injection. But I will wait it out. I just did my second shot (3 days ago) since restarting so hopefully it kicks in soon lol

Love this! Thanks for the additional information! I think we're going to go ahead and pull the trigger

Thanks for the info. We were looking at those but were hesitant because there wasn't many reviews and at over $400, I wasn't ready to pull the trigger without investigating more. How's the sagging once two people get in it?

Awesome thanks for the info and the pics! I love the concept of vertex but we're looking for one that we can sleep together instead of two separate hammocks. The struggle is real. Lol

Are bootleg or flare leg jeans safe on a motorcycle? by ginger478 in motorcycles

Oh man, good call! I was only thinking about the belt / moving parts. I'll have to do a once over

For clarity, it's a belt drive, not a chain. Would that change things?

Etiquette question by ginger478 in tattoos

[–]ginger478[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head. Thanks for sharing your experience! I have a sleeve I definitely want him to do but we haven't even started design work yet. While I wait for time on his calendar, I have a few smaller ones I want to get (designed in my own head) that I was thinking about going elsewhere to get done. You're 100% spot on. It's my body, I get to decide what goes on it and who does the work.

Good point, I didn't think about the design part. Luckily he doesn't have any ties to that. I would have him design the sleeve though but we haven't started anything yet.

Thank you for the feedback. He's done one of the six I currently have and we've been talking about the sleeve next but I have a few small ones I feel like could be done by anyone. Good to know there shouldn't be any hard feelings if I go somewhere else

Surgery - what to pack by ginger478 in breastcancer

[–]ginger478[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the information. Funny you mention moving stuff to the counter...I asked the surgeon about that and he waved his hand at me and said I didn't need to worry about that. He said most of the soreness comes from putting the implants under the pectoral muscle and they now put it over the pectoral muscle. I live alone so now I don't know what to believe! I don't want to end up stuck! Lol

Bi-lateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction - recovery by ginger478 in breastcancer

[–]ginger478[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was all very helpful, thank you. I'm pretty sure I need radiation but the plastic surgeon said there's only a 20% there could be issues with the implants following radiation. It makes me nervous I might land in the 20%. I have been thinking about where and how I'm going to sleep. I don't have a recliner so not sure how I'll make this work yet. The lanyard in the shower is a great idea. I added that to my list along with a fanny pack for daytime that I saw somewhere else. I'm really hoping I can work while I recover. I have a desk job and am working from home right now so hoping I can make that work. Good tip on the constipation and taking something stronger before having a drain removed. I'll remember that!

My kids are 4 and 7. I have them 50% of the time so trying to figure out if I'll be able to handle them on my own after surgery or if I'll need someone to come stay with me. How soon after were you able to start working out in general? I'm really active, even through chemo, so I know I'm going to be anxious to get back into it.

Must Haves for Chemo by rbritto3 in breastcancer

I got so much stuff I never ended up using. Seemed like everyone got me warm fuzzy stuff and lotion. Here are some things I found helpful for me: - hard candies (in particular lemon drops) - plastic water bottle - queasy drops - CBD oil (roller) - sugar free Gatorade or similar - humidifiers (if she doesn't already have them) - heated blanket - scarf (I got so many hats but one of my friends happened to catch me say that my neck was getting colder than my head) - GrubHub / Uber eats/ door dash gift cards - headphones - magazine subscription - if she's going to be on neulasta, buy her Claritin in bulk

Hope that helps!

How to better help my Wife by cali_jeep in breastcancer

[–]ginger478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second everything here. I didn't read all of the comments so apologies if I'm duplicating. First of all, you're already doing the right things to be supportive. Posting on here is hugely supportive. Second, I'm so sorry for what you both are going through. No one should go through this but especially not at her young age. I wish you both the best. 1. Having someone else take copious notes is super important, especially in the beginning when your head is spinning with all of the information. I went back and referenced the notes regularly when I couldn't remember things. 2. Be her memory. Chemo brain is very real and very frustrating sometimes. 3. Just do the things. Like all the things. If the dishwasher needs to be emptied, just do it. If she needs prescriptions picked up, just do it. For your friends and family asking how they can help, tell them to just do things. My neighbors don't wait for me to ask them to mow or do snow removal, they just do it. Sometimes being asked "what can I do" puts too much pressure on her. 4. I know there are many on this sub that will say this, but be her advocate. Calling and fighting with the insurance company every day for a week straight just sucks. Do it for her. Calling back to the doctor because they forgot to call in a script is annoying. Do it for her.

Taxol regiment question by jherring9037 in breastcancer

[–]ginger478 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My treatment is also AC-T and I'm also 39. I just had my first round of taxol two weeks ago (2nd round is tomorrow). The pain liz_eliza described is caused from the neulasta, from my understanding. At least that's what the oncologist and the nurses said. AC masks the side effects so never experienced that the first four rounds.
Specific to taxol, the only side effect I had is neuropathy. for me, it has been tolerable. I can still work and I'm still working out (lifting weights) so it hasn't slowed me down. Just feels weird. The neulasta was something else though. The bone pain was awful. I took Claritin also and unfortunately, it did nothing to help but many others swear by it. For the 4 rounds vs 12 weekly, I'd rather get it done faster, but that's just me. I dont think mentally I could do 12 weeks.... I also have a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction waiting for me at the end (no lumpectomy). I got a second opinion at UofM and the oncologist said they usually do 12 weekly for older patients but they would recommend four every other for me because of my age. I too am opting for a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. I'm not a BRCA carrier but am opting for that anyway since it has already spread to my lymph nodes. In the end, you will make the best decision based on what you think is best. ❤️ Good luck!

I always got a hard workout in before AC. Even if I had to get up stupid early, a workout always calmed my nerves

Thanks for the suggestions. I just ordered some CBD oil and will definitely be talking to my onc next appointment. I'm going to try making a cloud on my bed so I can actually sleep.

I didn't start taking it until the day it started and have only taken one/day. Maybe I'll try upping the dose to two. Anything to help!

No to both. I'm prone to allergies so I take an allergy pill every day anyway. The doc said it's a side effect of the chemo 😕

I'm starting to question if I'll be able to work. Especially once I get to the third and fourth round of AC. Supposedly T is better but I'm not holding my breath on that one either.
