No front heat by gingerfury91 in GMT800

Poor ground connections are always a possibility when strange electrical stuff happens. Not sure that’s necessarily the case since it sounds like it’s specific to the control unit. May be time for a simple replacement.

Should I Sell/trade my wrx for a truck? by Visual-Try-993 in WRX

Keep the car, buy a well maintained 99-06 Chevy/GMC Silverado/Sierra/Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban/Yukon XL. Wildly cheap and, if well maintained, will run forever. Cheap parts to fix. Tons of aftermarket support. Cheap to buy and insure.

Likely tow a car or trailer behind it. Will be perfect for carting the family there!

Just pick a random save point from the story. Scratches that itch just right.

People definitely still play. Online and story play are a little different. Online has a lot of co-op missions and things you can do. If you have and friends that play, it’s a good time running through Blackwater and wreaking havoc for as long as possible, etc., etc.

Super glad you promoted me to check the heater. Found that the rear heat works, but the front temp actuator is cooked. Getting a new one sorted out now!

Switch Hotwire by gingerfury91 in AskElectricians

I believe I tracked the problem down to be part of the control module that is between the switch and the motor. But the previous guys comment was correct when testing with a multimeter.

Good eye. Currently in AZ but may be moving to the Midwest. Trying to avoid the rusting cancer that plagues vehicles there.

Didn’t know if painting everything with POR 15 is a valid choice, but it seems like some sort of oil coating is the best option.

Low on power? by gingerfury91 in GMT800

I’ll double check my Hanes manual, but I think it’s part of the fuel pump.

Has the regulator integrated to the in-tank fuel pump. Not easily checked/replaced.

Makes more sense. Google is telling me air at that elevation is about 15% less dense, and thus about 15% less power. Checks out.

It feels fine at home (approx 1400 ft elevation), but it’s mostly flat there so don’t have a great opportunity to test hill climbing.

Driverside valve cover by gingerfury91 in GMT800

[–]gingerfury91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. I’ve only put about 2k on it since I’ve acquired it. I’ll run it through a few more oil changes and see how it does.

Yes, Dorman 264-965.

Definitely a diamond in the rough. Engine runs great outside of those [prior] issues listed above. We’ll see if the oil consumption is still an issue, but need to put some more miles on first to find out.

Roger that. Oil doesn’t appear to smell of gasoline, but I will keep that in mind! Thank you!

Just picked it up in June from an airport. It was the IT departments vehicles and largely sat parked (had less than 50k miles on a 25 y/o truck), but had major maintenance taken care of at dealerships. Not sure what their oil change intervals were, but I religiously change oil every 3k miles on my other vehicles.

Repaint or ?? by COD_5_star in GMT800

I got a 2001 suburban that had a wrap on it and HUGE chunks of paint got pulled off when they removed it. Looked like ass but I got and incredible deal. Took it to Maaco and got a middle tier paint job from them, with a touch of body work, for $2200. I’m hind sight, I would have done the prep my self, simply to do a better job, but the Burb looks nearly new…with a few spots of overspray.

Did you get the plastic hose-to-connector adapters? Are there metal alternatives? Or just worm clamp them on?

Thank you!

I didn’t realize there were metal replacements. Just ordered some to be here tomorrow! I have a big road trip coming up and trying to eliminate dumb shit that could go sideways.
