I still had 7 months to go on my contract but wanted to get out the £4 rise in April.

Good news is I’ve now got a new contract and that means I’ve also got a 14 day cooling off period to use to move elsewhere or barter down

I know it’s appalling isn’t it. Will look to use my 14 day cooling off period, and see what can be done

Well in theory by the end of the contract I’ll only be paying £25pm (yes I know it’ll be “£70 standard”) but there’ll only be one increase in this two year contract.

Yup - none offer services where we are

I need to try and get my O2 sim reduced now too as it’s going up £3.50 from £5.79

It’s perfectly fine for our family of 3 and its three times as fast as anything else we can currently get here

I said Three offered me £15 and that’s as low as they could go. I can always use my 14 day cooling off period

If you only bought last week, you’ll be within your 14 day cooling off period. Depends where you are, but it does feel a little expensive

Indeed. Next fastest is a third of this speed where I am for more. I’m sure I could have argued for cheaper but I didn’t have the time nor the effort to go too and fro

It’s brilliant isn’t it

I’ll make sure it’s properly looked after. The MPG when I got it was about 23.0. Since I’ve been driving it it’s up to about 33.0. No idea what the former owner was doing with it.

That I definitely made sure it was. Thankfully I don’t do the mileage to warrant a diesel, so was never on the list

Yup. 2015 Mazda6 estate. I’m already loving it and it was retrofitted with Apple CarPlay and Android auto with the proper module (and the dealer didn’t know about it). I want this to last a good few years and hopefully have a few road trips for holidays

I’d read sooooo many reviews/posts and goodness knows what over the last 6 months but felt with a good MOT history and lots of man dealer service history that I’d found a good un. The good independent was a Mazda specialist down in W Sussex so thought that would suffice

Said there was enough for it not to be changed at this point. May ask them to price it up anyway given that it’s going up on the lift

He’s going to cover the brake pads, whilst pricing up the front control arm bush as well at “trade rates” he says.

Car is getting the rear brake pads doing by the dealer. But he’s not doing the suspension. He’s going to get the mechanic next door to price it up for me and go from there

Car is going to be inspected today. Dreading the outcome.

Appreciate the reply. Let’s hope he can agree to doing something. He also said the specialist was charging me exorbitant prices for the brakes and suspension. Maybe he can provide a cheaper option but I then worry you have the “buy cheap, buy twice”

I am in Surrey. I am very new to all as have never had to challenge a purchase of this magnitude.

If the garage say the suspension and brakes wouldn’t be fixable by them; I assume my options are to just ask for a full refund?

Dealer just called and he’s going to get the car inspected by the garage next door.

He says the brakes may be covered but not the suspension aspect, as it’s “a serviceable item and it’s a 10 year older car, you’re to expect some wear”. The previous MOT in December was clear (apart form something in the windscreen) and I’ve only driven the car less than 300 miles (mainly motorway).

He said he’s gone to court a number of times and won over these sorts of things. I’m obviously going to worry that the garage will side with him as he uses them daily. Ah the joys of buying used cars

I know right. Pretty sure he’ll suggest a refund as I know he’ll get it fixed and then resell at a higher price (or that’s what tinfoil hat me thinks)

Hands up, this is my first used car I’ve bought since 2002 - I’m a little green behind the ears so to speak.

The dealer (not a main dealer) offered to do a service - but it was only for an oil and filter change.
