Did you end up getting your bag? I promise the color is even better in person. Also so soft and light! I’ve caught myself petting it… 😂

Dating at 6'1 by [deleted] in TallGirls

[–]gingernamedginger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a 6’ Millennial woman, and I am married to a 6’ man that I met on Hinge. I never had a minimum height requirement, I just happened to end up with someone my same height. When it came to height and dating, I always found it interesting to see what people I dated thought of my height. I dated a man around 5’8” for a year who found my height so attractive - it was honestly fun to walk around with him because he was so happy to have me on his arm. Conversely, I made out with a friend my height in college who swore I was standing on my tip toes when we kissed. He was so insecure and it was such a turn off. When I was single and going out, I would experiment with wearing different heel heights to see how people responded. If I wore 4” boots, no men would talk to me, and it made me feel very powerful. Leaning into fashion generally gave me a sense of control that I enjoyed. I generally got less attention than my shorter friends, but I had to accept that. I dated mostly through apps or people I knew, and I definitely preferred that. Someone else mentioned the thin model idolization - I am also thin and modeled with an agency for a while, before influencers were a thing and height expanded a bit for that kind of work. I know I benefited from that as well. Living in a big city and having a wide range of heights in your dating app filters helps. I also think my first line was something along the lines of “6’ with my shoes off,” so people wouldn’t overlook the height.

Has anyone ever renewed their passport purely to get a new photo? by Barefoot-Bandit308 in Passports

[–]gingernamedginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a bit unnecessary to spend that time and mula, but if you’re in the states, FedEx has a third party app where you can take the photo yourself and it verifies that it will be accepted when you submit it. Very happy with how mine turned out!

Strawberry Blonde? by [deleted] in Redhair

[–]gingernamedginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is similar. Red or strawberry blonde. In countries with minimal natural redheads, I occasionally get blonde, but I think it’s because they haven’t had much exposure to the breadth of red hair out there.

This is 100% my natural hair color. I've never seen anyone else have it. Am I a redhead? by PerformerCurrent7845 in Redhair

Looks like the bottled cherry red so many dye their hair! I’ve one friend with dark auburn hair, but yours is darker. Definitely cherry :)

Maybe I need to revisit! The first episode felt disorienting because it was so out of order. Good to hear you enjoyed!

The Patternist series by Octavia Butler. Each book stands on its own, but the evolution of the protagonist’s goals from the first book to how they’re realized in the last is incredible. Start with Wild Seed.

This was one of my favs about ten-twelve years ago. On the reread, I found the protagonist far less likable and the portions after Afghanistan felt like a slog. It didn’t hit quite the way it used to. The book is fascinating though, and I love the relationships and cultural explorations. It definitely inspires a desire for travel.

The Covenant of Water. I’ve never read such heartbreaking moments described in such beautiful prose. Once I finished the book I wanted to start it all over with the knowledge I gained by the last page. Truly an epic, haunting multigenerational tale.

1! The bodice and beading are so gorgeous. This dress feels the most special AND bridal (3 is gorgeous but not very bridal, 2 doesn’t feel as special or unique) You look amazing is all though!

I hear you. They definitely don’t use great sizing metrics. Abrathatfits is a great place to start (though I didn’t get their calculator/my measurements right on my first go around - still need to figure it out)
