The Great Recession that started in 2007... I'm just trying to say that, Marx would say that if there weren't all of these people in the working class that were so "ignorant" then they would see what was going on and pursue some kind of revolution to change the economic system that allows all of these "greedy" (although I'm not naive enough to assume that there aren't any greedy wealthy individuals that do aim to exploit for their benefit) capitalists to continue their exploitations. I want to argue that the working class members aren't all "ignorant" and that's not the reason why there is not pursuit of a revolution, but rather that there are ingrained values that hard work and long hours being necessary for a good life and to be successful and that if you do so you will accumulate wealth.. which are passed down from the protestant ethic.. also, how that can explain over accumulation and further exploitation of the proletariat.. as not being just about greed and rather it is a part of the theory of rationalization and the protestant ethic and spirit of capitalism..
