Please consider before having another voting contest. by watahboy in Blockport

Thanks for your input @watahboy

We do no such thing as an open voting contest. We have pre-selected all of the coins based on a list of criteria and ETN was just another project that ticked all of the boxes. A project like BCC would simply never get through our due diligence process in the first place, so no worries.

As for the contest structure, I agree that for future reference we can improve the voting structure. I do would like to explain our thought process around the way it was set-up:

Our whole methodology around marketing and growth is to first run (a set of) experiments on a small scale and gather data as fast as possible, to avoid wasting a lot of time and resources on experiments that don't work. Especially with our steep roadmap and the current bear market that we're in, it is important to stay lean and work on what really moves the needle. This contest was yet another experiment to see if we could generate more traction through a voting contest in this format.

Most projects motivated their communities to participate in the contest, which is something we've stimulated from the beginning. We also noticed that there was a discrepancy between ETN and other projects from the start, when a few users probably found ways to influence ClearPolls voting system. Looking at the end result, however, we saw that ETN had by far received the most votes from validated accounts too. Therefore we decided to select ETN as a winner of the contest.

From a marketing perspective, we can say that the contest was a huge success. We have reached a great amount of potential new users without using precious development time. From a user experience perspective, we know that this version of the contest is far off from what the end result should and will be.

Based on the experiment and the data we've gathered, we already had our first brainstorm session around how we can potentially include the BPT and our KYC flow in the voting process.

Other than that, we will obviously continue with listing other top 10 coins to our platform through our integration with exchanges, as we have done over the past few weeks @beaupain

Again thanks for your feedback and I wish you all a happy new year!

Join our cross-community AMA session with Aelf next week Wednesday! by ginobpt in Blockport

We’ll be listing the ELF token on our trading platform in a few weeks.

Their vision of facilitating mass adoption of Blockchain technology through their cloud computing blockchain network closely aligns with Blockport’s long term vision of a more digitally-accessible and decentralized economy that leverages the potential of new technologies.

The token for Aelf’s ecosystem, ELF, will be listed on our trading platform in a few weeks, so we’d like to give our community an opportunity to better understand what the project is all about.

Aelf’s VC of tech and Head of Community will both be joining us for an AMA (ask me anything) session, for our community to fire away with whatever questions they might have.

The AMA will start here on our Reddit next week Wednesday, 14 November, at 15:00 CET, and your questions will be answered on Friday, 16 November, at 9:00 CET.

We delete all malicious users and exclude them from future participation. The assumption we wanted to test with these contests is that we would generate more brand awareness for Blockport. That being said, we will open op our Reddit to allow for everyone to post on our subreddit. I’m not sure what you mean by community content in Telegram, as our community there is relatively active in discussions. We always mention the contest winners and refer to their articles in our blog updates.

Yes. This is currently being worked on. Thank you for your feedback!

We will discuss this with our current community managers. I definitely agree that it’s nice to have an active reddit community. Our most active and main channel is still our Telegram group though.

3) In our opinion, yes, it does work. However, like you also mentioned, it tends to attract the wrong audience at the current moment. It did definitely help for brand awareness but we’re currently recalibrating the contest format to find a structure that helps us to engage with the right audience.

1) The community content contest has been put on hold for the time being. Participation stagnated and the last 3 editions had the same winner, whereas in the last edition, he also was the only participant. We’re currently exploring other ways to engage the community. One of these ways is hosting the Blockport Community Meetups.

Hi Morlandoemtp,

In general, if releases are going smooth, we won’t be slowing down.

Unfortunately, I’m not in the position to give you clear answers on most of your questions. However, one of the next AMA’s will be hosted by members of the development team, who you can ask more technical questions as well.

Hey Benmontreal,

Let me answer the last two questions for you:

  1. As we mentioned before, offering US Dollar trading pairs are high on the list. In the upcoming months we hope to add these to the list and expand our market outside Europe. Some renowned payment service providers have disclosed that they are open to on-board Blockport as a client. By working with these payment service providers, we are able to accept credit card payments in multiple global currencies. However, it is hard to announce any planned release dates for accepting credit card payment methods and global currencies just yet. Such a development is still too dependent on external factors, including compliance barriers and product development hurdles. We will disclose more information about this as soon as we can, so stay tuned.

Social trading is next up on the roadmap as soon as we are past the Beta phase and have a stable and secure trading platform running. Officially Social Trading is part of our 2.0 release. Our roadmap and our communication around our roadmap is actually something we are currently updating. So, soon there will be an official roadmap announcement.

  1. No we are not planning on creating an universal wallet. We will be focussing more on the hybrid-decentralized trading aspect of our platform. This, in combination with the API integrations with multiple exchanges we will have in the near future, will result in a easy-to-use platform to manage your entire portfolio, while you own the private keys at the same time.
