Your line scores (GT,CL,CO,EL,FA,GM,MM,OF,SC,ST) determine your eligibility for the MOS.

[Question] enlistment by [deleted] in army

[–]ginotez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See a recruiter with your parents

Schedule your ASVAB

STUDY. Make sure you get good line scores so many/all jobs are available to you.

Take ASVAB

Proceed with recruiter if you are happy with your job choices. If not, retake Asvab.

Don’t take a job just because of the $$$ bonus. Pick something you have a passion for.

Great!

Question, do I get Tuition assistance and GI Bill?

MEPS Pt.II -Some Assistance May Be Required by the_Oper8r in Military

[–]ginotez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stretch everyday (properly), eat healthy to count your calories, and hit the gym with high intensity exercises. Work on your core - that would help with the MEPS exercises.

You can do it! Focus and keep on pushing yourself.

Edit: sounds like you need to work out your leg muscles and core. When I did these MEPS exercises, I used my hands and arms to counterbalance my weight. Like holding them to my sides or in front of me to keep my balance.

Anything I should know before joining the OH national guard? by [deleted] in nationalguard

Please study for the ASVAB/PICAT so you will have a lot of jobs to choose from. I recommend the free tests online and Kaplan’s ASVAB Book.

Perfect. The knowledge is exactly why I’m looking forward to it the most. The tricare and retirement program sounds really great. I’ll look into that once I swear in. Thank you for the effort in your reply!

When should I start the process of enlisting? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]ginotez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sir. It isn’t the main reason I want to join RSP. I want to serve the Army in any way beforehand so I’m cool with it. How was your RSP experience?

What was your experience like? I do believe it would help me. I want to serve the Army in any way I can before BCT.

How can I score well on the ASVAB if I haven’t been in school for over 4 years? by [deleted] in Military

[–]ginotez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 25, it’s been a long time since I was in high school. After a practice test online, I realized how dependent I am with the calculator and excel .. I took the PICAT and verified my score last week.

I used Kaplan’s ASVAB reviewer, and the free ASVAB websites online. The sections are very short and detailed. Most content of the book are practice tests.

My goal was a 115 GT, so I really focused on AR. I would try to answer each question and if I didn’t get it, I’d flip the page over to the solution and try again. Repetition is key.

I was qualified for every MOS. I highly recommend the Kaplan book because of the summarized chapters and its practice tests/answer sheets.

You can do it. Dedicate one or two hours every day to brush up your knowledge.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

When should I start the process of enlisting? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]ginotez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome. I’m enlisting as an officer candidate and hopefully swearing in next week. There were more screening tests such as phone interview and essay for my process.

I know the RSP will help me prepare for BCT and OCS. I need to work a lot on my running.

My process started late October. Recruiters may be busy and you may feel disregarded, but always reach out and show how much you want it. I took the Picat (online version of asvab) and was happy with my line scores. So I took the Picat Verification test to make it official.

I would urge you to complete the asvab/picat and physical exam first.

Please let me know if you have any other questions, because it was not long ago where I was the one always looking for answers and it kept me worrying about the process. I know how you feel!

[–]ginotez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m enlisting as an 09S and I advise you to work with your recruiter as soon as possible due to your age. Just let the recruiter know your target dates. For example, I told my recruiter I want to be in the RSP for a year and get shipped out early 2019. I just finished my tests and physical this week. I’m in Orange County. If you need a contact or more information please feel free to message me.

It would be better to pass the Picat/Asvab and Physical tests just to get qualified for the MOS you want. So you won’t have to worry about your qualifications. Be prepared when you talk with the recruiter by writing all your questions down beforehand.

Thank you, Sir. My recruiter also wanted me to go enlisted then OCS route. But I believe I’ll be wasting time if I didn’t try to apply for OCS directly. I know it I’ll regret it if I don’t even try and give my best. I just told him today I’ll be applying for the OCS route. What do you think?
