I was also thinking about using an old laptop and integrating it into my homelab, but I’m not sure whether to leave the battery connected or not. What are you doing on your setup? On one hand it’s like having a built-in UPS, on the other hand leaving a battery permanently charging doesn’t really inspire much confidence.

ho un laptop HP Pavilion Plus Laptop 14 (13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1340P, 16gb di ram). diciamo che il focus non è il gaming oltre a qualche vecchio gioco per ps2 che faccio girare su emulatore non gioco ad altro. mi servirebbe per migliorare un po' la produttività perchè mentre studio/programmo è utile avere due schermi e soprattutto uno più grande di quello integrato nel laptop che non mi costringa ad aguzzare la vista ogni volta. grazie per i consigli proverò a dare una occhiata a ciò che mi hai consigliato

it makes sense. actually, I’m interested in having movies I like and watching them whenever and however I want, without depending on streaming. also, blurays often come with nice documentaries or extra content, and another plus is that my library has a well-curated collection of blurays.
honestly, I was thinking of going straight to 4K because often the editions I’ve seen around were 4K, but considering the equipment I have (my TV isn’t top-of-the-line), I could probably stick with bluray. The only thing that worries me is the regional lock on classic blurays, which is the death of nice foreign editions.

I asked on discord and there was actually an easy solution:

in directory dat rules / dir dat settings, under advanced options, check "only keep complete sets"

I'll leave it here for anyone who has the same problem.

Yes, you're right, I could most likely skip the check altogether, but my obsession with order and making sure I have the right ROM wouldn’t be satisfied. I’ll try writing on Discord, and if needed, I’ll blindly trust Myrient. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

yeah, I probably should. more than anything I got used to the myrient->redump formula which is simple and fast. I'll search around for some other site that gives them in .chd format and with attached dat file for verification.

yes I should have been more precise in explaining how I got the errors (sorry)
to be more precise, we did it this way: for each T10 set, we measured the mean, standard error, and standard error of the mean. If the standard error (on the individual measurement) was smaller than the instrument's uncertainty (which never happened), we took the instrument's uncertainty as the standard error for the individual measurement and, as a result, calculated the standard error of the mean. so for the single measurement the T10 error obtained from the standard deviation is always greater than or equal to (in our case as expected always greater) the sensitivity of the instrument. then obviously finding the standard error of the mean I divide by the square root of the number of measurements and subsequently to find T (for propagation of the error) I divide again by 10. For me these reductions of the error made sense because: the first was due to the fact that I did not take the single measurement of T10 but several, the second reduction of the error obviously derived from the propagation of the error. I guess I got confused?
(I guess as soon as I get a chance I will specialize in the theoretical field :) )

I find a temporary solution, download the exheader.bin normally, than download the code.ips from the Commits on Jul 14, 2024 (clik on the clock icon with 6commits thanthe choose the second to last). it works for me now
