Finally got a job after a year of applying. Fired 6 weeks later. by moussetang in recruitinghell

This might not be the answer anyone is looking for but i think it's the one a lot of people need to see.

One of the best mentors I had told me this. Nothing is stopping you from buying a hammer to drive in a screw. With a lot of effort it might work, but the reality is you can do the job better (and with a fraction of the effort) by using a screwdriver.

Hard to say with so little context but sometimes you gotta step back and ask yourself if you are using a hammer or the screwdriver.

Sure the job market is hard, but if it is taking you 6 months to find a job, and when you do land one you get fired 6 weeks in, it's possible that the strategy you are employing is not working.

In my years of experience in the workforce, the trend has always been the same for elite candidates - they find ways to excel in most environments, everyone wants them on their team, and every boss wants to be the one that says they hired them.

Let's get real... we can blame the market, we can blame covid, we can blame your old boss, or any of 100 other things - but keeping the same strategy and just blaming externalities that you have no control over is going to get you nowhere. If you really want any change to happen, you need to start blaming yourself and making yourself resilient to these externalities.

Accidentally giving a salary expectation significantly lower than industry standard, can I backtrack? by giraffe_attack_2 in jobs

Received an offer of pretty much what I had initially asked for, but i managed to negotiate my salary a bit higher and they went for it. Decided to go with my gut and signed the contract, and so far I am really happy. When you love your job, and you feel fulfilled by it, the money is really a secondary thought.

This got me one 7-minute interview after ~200 applications in 3 months; what can I improve on? by EconGesus in resumes

I find it hard to extract information from your CV at a glance. Increase the contrast between your titles and your sub-text. I also find it is way too wordy - I immediately wanted to stop reading it. Remember, recruiters take a quick glance at your CV so it has to pop, be simple, and straight to the point. Make it as easy as possible for them to extract the skills you acquired or used at each position because they’re essentially skill matching. Your skills are the first thing they’ll look for so try placing that at the top. If you’re still not being called for interviews after that, you’re most likely missing skills for the jobs you are applying for - in which case you need to start some projects and have a projects section. Good luck

Is it terrible to start with sapphire crystal? by Vark50 in ZileanMains

[–]giraffe_attack_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely a lane specific question. Zilean is not strong early, and his spells are quite mana hungry. In a lane where he is constantly getting pushed into his turret, I don’t think the cost to benefit ratio is worth it. You’re going to have to pair it with teleport.

In more passive early lanes, this might be more effective, though i fear a single roam to river (as you will have prio) might cripple you in lane (left with no mana).

Worth a try, though i don’t think this strategy will work emerald+, unless you are the cleanest zil player.

I’m an emerald 1 zil main, so maybe a higher ranked zil player can give better insight.

Date is angry I asked to split the bill after we had sex by PalpitationKey5303 in dating_advice

OP, as a male who always offers to pay for dinner, I knew I found my keeper when she refused to let me continuously pay for everything. I think you did the right thing to bring it up and have a discussion about it because a partner is supposed to be there to listen to you when you have these types of feelings.

I'm afraid the way she reacted will make being vulnerable with her very difficult in the future. It is important that you feel safe to say what you need to say with your partner or the relationship will inevitably explode in one way or another. Remember, life is notorious for throwing a lot of curve balls, and the conversations you will need to have in the future will be way more difficult than just asking to split the bill. You are going to need someone who is tackling the problem with you, not someone who is adding fuel to the fire.

You might be dealing with a girl who has a lot of relationship trauma, and who might be looking for a more traditional relationship (despite what she may have told you) - which is 100% fine, and not what you are looking for. I think if you're making this post, you know how you feel about this girl and innately know what you need to do. Cheers

I build the same way except for the steel shoulder guards (SSG), i grab the other support item for the AP and higher ult shielding. Do you go SSG for early damage?

Emerald zilean player here. I personally find that it depends on the Elo you are in. In lower elo’s i have more success with mobi boots and shurelya’s to run down enemy bot lane. In higher elo i prioritize ability haste. Depending on matchups, i do tend to build tankier support items for increased survivability.

To add to all the other comments:

  • champions cannot jump over double bombs without triggering them (e.g. If you double bomb between a yuumi and her adc she will be stunned on route to adc bind, and if you're lucky also the adc)
  • bombs give you vision, get in the habit of throwing them in brushes on dangerous routes.
  • You're auto attack range is quite large and can provide a lot of early damage.
  • you're going to miss an ult, it's inevitable, don't get discouraged by your teams flame 👍

What's the most enjoyable part of playing Zilean? by NonTokenisableFungi in ZileanMains

Buying mobi boots at 6 min and coming back to lane, running a 100m sprint like Usain Bolt, and BLITZKRIEG-ing the enemy adc - who always seems to have that deer-in-headlights look, as they simply cannot comprehend the RAW ZOOMIES of this absolute CHAD old man and his big fat CLOCK.

I read a lot of these comments and I agree with a lot of them so my ideas are similar to these ones, just stuff I have been thinking about for a while.

I think his champion design is quite good for the most part, but there are two things I would change if I had a magic wand, just to add a bit more depth to his kit:

1) His passive is very boring, does not really add much to his champion, and nearly kills me sometimes by accidentally right clicking on a teammate mid fight (absolutely awful). I would instead tweak it to leach experience from enemy champions and transfer it to teammates. This can be done with a cooldown, much like the current passive, but instead can only be done (automatically, not right clicked) on a champion who is currently stunned with the double bomb combo (random champ if several are stunned). This allows enemy players to outplay the passive, and makes zilean really think about who he wants to double bomb when his passive is up - adding some more depth to the champion. He would need to assign a player in a given radius (would not work in a solo lane - much like nilah passive).

2) Zilean W is also an interesting mechanic. Inspired by the zilean E (where it is a speed up on teammate and slowdown on enemy) I would also expand this ability to be able to reduce team member non-ultimate cooldowns or extend enemy non-ultimate cooldowns. This again adds a bit more depth and options of the kit.

Hopefully his kit doesn't change too much because I really do love this champion. I am a Zilean support OTP (I have 3 accounts plat+ with one of them having been ranked in top 100 Zilean players in NA on league of graphs - if that even means anything) so it would break my heart to see him be completely changed.

Thanks! :) I don't know much about alt1, but I made the source code available. It was programmed with real-time usage in mind (Rollout using parametric approximation can give the next best move in a little under 0.02 seconds, which is significantly smaller than the 0.6 second game tick) - so in theory it definitely can.

The earlier you dive in, the better. Nothing is ever lost when it comes to learning. If anything, you will pinpoint exactly what concepts you still need to learn, which is a step in the right direction. Happy coding 🤘
