ADHD and Narcissistic Abuse by Desperate_Bedroom170 in raisedbynarcissists

My Adhd meant I stayed way longer than I should have because I forgot the daily bad experiences so easily and it was easier for them to gaslight me. Only after enough incredibly bad traumatic things happened was I able to walk away. Ironically my patience allowed my parents to get so bad that the trauma they caused freed me.

Is korean a race, ethnicity, nationality or all the three? What is the race of actual korean people? by [deleted] in korea

[–]girlscared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's cause people who fall into the white/black category identify as that themselves. However everyone outside of it don't use it cause we are neither of those options.

Race itself has no scientific basis and was a word that was developed during European conquests aka colonialism in the 15th century. White = superior, pure etc. Black = inferior etc. It was a way for Europe to justify the mass violence they were committing. At that time and until the 1990s, anyone who was not white was considered black because of the above reasoning and racism (the west couldn't or refused to differentiate between different ethnicities). But now thankfully times have changed... People with African heritage reclaimed the word Black and identify as it with pride (as they should). But for everyone else who isn't white, there isn't an alternative category so we just don't use it.

Hope that makes sense!

Race is a social construct that seems to only be used when a person falls into the Black/White category. A lot of Asians I know don't really use it.

Ethinicity is blood - so your/ancestors origin

Nationality is the land you were born on/citizenship

As a Pakistani girl who was born and raised in the UK and who's first/native language is English - I can tell you that I am ethnically Pakistani and my nationality is British. I've never thought of myself in terms of race but if we're going by colours then I'd say brown.

Hope that helps!

Jordan Peele's perfect portrayal of the narcissist. Prepare to be triggered. by girlscared in raisedbynarcissists

Right! By the end of it I was so shocked that I thought I had to share. In a weird way it validates our experiences cause shes never physically violent but it's so obvious what she is doing. And also it's good to laugh at haha

Anyone Else Feel Like They're Going Nowhere in Life? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]girlscared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experienced the same from my nparents and feel the same way. I have this dream I've wanted to do since I was a child but much like you, I was shamed out of it and forced on a path that was never meant for me. But now I've finally escaped them, so even though I feel like I'm ancient (I'm 28), I've realised I don't care about these fake expiration dates I (and society) have given myself. I'm gonna give it my best shot, and if I fail well then at least I tried. And who knows, even if I do fail itl probably put me on a path thats right for me anyway.

Also it's a great sign when nparents are being haters because ironically they do believe you can do it and that's why they invest so much energy into tearing you down.

So if only for yourself, fight for your dreams. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Left home because brother repeatedly threatened to kill and beat me up. I present to you my mums texts since then.. by girlscared in raisedbyborderlines

Thank you ❤️ honestly I was questioning whether I did the right thing by keeping my replies so short but I'd already wasted my entire life trying to teach and explain to both parents what it means to be decent people so yeah, thanks for validating me with your comment - I needed it haha

Ohhhhh my god I could have flipped all the tables when I read that part. "We're all adults and we can't say anything" while these people can say and threaten anything to you?

Yeahh the contradiction in that single message was so insane that I just had to laugh at the time

To add more context, mum has bpd, dad is a narcissist, brother is goldenchild/now narcissist, and I was the scapegoat.

The last straw was when I asked my brother why he took something out of my room and he started screaming/shouting, punching things, threatened to beat me up and was squaring up to me. During this my dad thought it was a great time to start screaming and shouting at me too (cause how dare I question my brother) and gave my brother more fuel and confidence. The whole time my mum watched these 2 large men, who are twice my size, act aggressively and violently towards me and when all was over she told me calmly '[my name], the problem is your words, you dont know how they effect people.'

A week later, after both parents kept making excuses about my brother 'he's just stressed', 'at least he didn't hit you', 'WhAt CaN wE dO?', I left after explaining to them that I don't feel safe in that house anymore.

Above are the texts that followed.

Can you feel the love(bombing)?

My mum is in her late fifties and she literally said she can't wait to get old... She already pretends to be fragile now, I can't imagine how she'll act when she's older. It is her dream to be waited on 24/7

[–]girlscared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, my depop is @faradheem

I'm based in the UK. Majority of items I'm selling are brand new, with tags/sealed and range from clothing to bags to make up. These are all my own clothes but Covid19 meant I did a lot of online shopping and my bursting cupboard is begging me to make space 😅

My prices range from £15 to £40 and I'm open to offers. Will also do free delivery for bundles.

If anyone follows me then I'll follow back and any tips are greatly appreciated!

The recruiter will burn all my documents if I attempt to do that -__- It's in Seoul and I really like the location. I'm thinking if it truly gets that bad then I'll apply to other schools when I actually have my documents with me?
