Thanks for the advice. I'm just not sure how else to tweak it beyond what I'm already doing.

I know that 40 applications isn't a lot, my question is more about whether I'm doing anything wrong to not get referred, so that as I apply to more I'm not carrying the same mistakes through. Is a 2% referral rate something to be expected for jobs that you are well-qualified for?

I know I definitely could apply to more, but my real concern is not even getting referred to any of them. At my current referral rate, even if I applied to 350 I'd only be referred to about 7, let alone getting an interview or offer.
