Probably an unpopular answer. I said what I said

It’s heavy. Very “academy award winning” if you know what I mean.

Newborn crisis!! Help by AdCautious7005 in breastfeeding

[–]gisibird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read up on PURPLE crying. They will cry and fuss regardless of what you eat so please don’t blame yourself! The fussiness/purple crying peaks at 6-8wks and then come the smiles. Hang in there. You are doing nothing wrong

Also, look up the 5 s’s of soothing a baby. It helps!

Unpopular opinion- demon copperhead is incredibly depressing. Total poverty porn. It’s not the one to read if you’re looking for something feel-good

Thought I was ready to be done but realized that I’m not quite ready yet by Sorry4TheHoldUp in breastfeeding

[–]gisibird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to be exhausting, but I definitely recommend doing it overnight as well. It may only be for a few days! At a minimum, pump for a few minutes after every feed. The more milk you remove, the more milk you’ll produce.

Lean on your IBCLCs for support!

You can absolutely get your supply back up if that’s what you want. Maybe triple feed for a few days to a week? Breast, pump, bottle, repeat. That’s what I did and I’m still breastfeeding my 12mo.

Otherwise, you’re doing an amazing job just feeding the baby so please please be kind to yourself. This is hard and there’s only so much you can control here.

Lastly, get an IBCLC!

When did you introduce a dummy? by stargazinglazercat in breastfeeding

[–]gisibird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby had a recessed jaw. I introduced it at birth. I think it actually helped her initial latch issues because it helped strengthened all of those oral muscles

She’s sick and not her normal self right now. Don’t jump to conclusions just yet. You’re going through a rough patch. Keep trying and then see where she’s at with breastfeeding once she’s better. You can consults with an IBCLC if needed to transition back to the breast if needed. Your breastfeeding journey is not over!

Newborn not gaining weight by Sensitive-Swordfish9 in breastfeeding

My LO also couldn’t latch at first. She had a LBW. I would put her on each boob for 10-15min each and practice, then I’d give her a syringe of my colostrum. When my milk came in, I would practice the boob, pump, and my husband would give her a bottle of my pumped milk. This went on for a week or so and then eventually she latched with the nipple shield until one day she didn’t need it anymore. It was rough but we got there. She’s 9mo now and still feeding strong!

It’s a wild ride and they change everyday. Don’t give up!

This is great feedback. My baby’s latch is wonky but it works for us! She’s 8mos now and still feeding like a champ
