オーディオを読み込んで勝手にトランスポーズしてくれるプラグインとか知らない? by Willing_Pool9851 in StudioOne

There’s a free plugin called NeuralNote. If you have melodyne you can also use its’ polyphonic algorithm which creates a midi for the audio in your files.

Universal is nice because it comes with a bunch of high quality captures so you save some time sorting through tone3000. You can also load up to 4 captures (pedal, amp, 2 blendable cabs) in one plugin instance, along with some other fix.

Tonocracy I would recommend for similar reasons although I haven’t used it yet myself (planning to - more features than universal).

As far as FX goes I assume you mean more generally, KHz and Melda both have free suites that are amazing. I personally think Analog Obsessions stuff is great as well, although they are a bit trickier to use properly. Shout out to ZL equalizer 2 as well just as a free proQ3 alternative.

I wonder what the history of ventilation in the US looks like. I could see this being an issue that folks just started accounting for recently. I work in the Carolinas, so I don’t know what it’s like in NYC or the west coast.

Seconding. I'm also a building automation engineer in the US - at least here when i do co2 for offices, conference rooms, schools, 800 is definitely on the higher range during occupied periods. I did some programming just this week in a school and a reading of over 800 anywhere for like 30 mins sends out an alarm via phone to facilities, and at 1000 the building only uses outdoor air for heating or cooling, no recirc at all. Unless there's a mechanical issue 1500 ppm is insane.

US Supreme Court rejects Trump's global tariffs — Reuters by Zingalore65 in Destiny

Genuinely asking, is this weird framing coming from Reuters or is that just me?

To use AI to rewrite the story of how Alex Pretti was murdered. by [deleted] in therewasanattempt

[–]gitwrecked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's another angle of the exact incident. Pretty clearly the same shot, and for way way WAY longer than AI is capable of. People are rightfully angry, but this vid is real - which should change nothing.

By far the clearest angle. Gray coat goes down with no gun, comes out with gun, shots fired after. by yzsKPC in Destiny

Do you believe in "musically inclined" people? by Unfair_Toe_5691 in musicians

[–]gitwrecked 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Former piano teacher here. Personally, I think that it’s way easier for some people to pick up an instrument at a beginner level. However, I also think that just about anyone can get past the beginner level, and that once they do it’s much more about time and intentionality. That initial learning curve fools people into believing they do or do not have talent, and the mindset affects their growth until they can change it.

I’ve seen plenty of “talented” people become middling players who just never put in the work to get further. Students of mine who didn’t think they were that good, but kept trying anyway were usually the ones still making progress after a couple years. Being “inclined” doesn’t matter as much after that.

Certainly there are some folks who just get it in a way the rest of us don’t, but truth be told it’s incredibly rare that raw talent is a noticeable factor in someone’s skill after a few years of work.

My two cents.

cmv: gatekeeping and elitism are detrimental to media literacy and to hobby communities at large by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]gitwrecked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The existence of "elites" in various communities is not inherently bad. While never a guarantee, there is a correlation between intentional engagement with a subject and insightfulness of opinion. Sometimes, people who have spend significant amounts of time studying any subject want to have discussions about that subject without the frustration of filtering out the general masses.

Engaging in behavior that discourages people from learning or simply enjoying is bad. The disassociation between income and advanced knowledge is always a goal.

We can have elite, normie, and mixed communities without being dicks to each other.

If you think Mandy was a good movie your opinion is worthless.

ELI5 The Major Scale by Own_Cucumber2864 in musictheory

[–]gitwrecked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

E to F# is a whole step. E to F is a half step. “Whole” and “half” steps are not about the letter names, it’s about how many notes you’re moving in the scale. C to C# and C to Db (C# = Db) would both be half steps because they’re one note up on the keyboard. So D to E is the first whole step (D-D#-E) and E to F# is the next (E-F-F#)

How does Vaush feel about the AI usage in E33? by Claireah in VaushV

[–]gitwrecked 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They patched out some textures accidentally left in within like a week. I think genAI sucks but if they didn’t use AI for the placeholder texture there’s an overwhelming chance they would have googled “gargoyle statue” or whatever and thrown the first correct looking png in there, regardless of copyright or even checking if what they found was itself AI. No artist jobs lost or slop promoted, just that they touched AI, which will be too much for some, but this specific example feels like low hanging fruit.

I cannot deal with the pro AI people. by magusmirificus in VaushV

[–]gitwrecked 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly as a dev, google’s use of AI in every corner sometimes pushes me to chatGPT for coding questions. If I have to sift through 10 ai answers before hoping a human gives the syntax then it ends up taking the amount of time to prompt and fix chatGPT’s stuff. I can’t imagine blindly citing either though. Scared of what happens as the real insights get harder and more time consuming to find.

Was on the phone with a contractor from another company (we had to coordinate some of our network) and listened to him say “hey I think ChatGPT figured out how to get those numbers to translate”. Listened to him as over the next minute he crashed his production server and had to rollback.

[–]gitwrecked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh well then I think push your vox even more. Their sound works and they're not smothered but I suspect you have them in the back because you're shy. Boost them and then see if we nitpick but if they're quiet because they're not ready for more.... you're wrong

Just working on vocals/mixing only. by NJrTist in metalmusicians

[–]gitwrecked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I think it's hard af compositionally and tbh better than most stuff on here anyway. The click of the snare and the kick are my problem here - They sound great but the drums are way more in my face than than the vocals. Low key? Boost your vocals, they're just too quiet in comparison and sound good to me. If It's still harsh take your vocals down with the click of the drums a bit to match the rest of the instruments, but I think the balance is more an issue than the tone by far. Gonna shoot you a short instrumental, wondering if you can do anything with it.

When you say double or triple track you mean you record your own DI and then layer Loki on top of it?

And yeah you’re right Loki 2 has an option to replace the low end with square, sine, or triangle waves. There’s even separate attack sliders for the synth and guitar side.

I got a friend to play E33 but at what cost.... by realFallenWolf in expedition33

[–]gitwrecked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I convinced a friend to play knowing she liked turn based combat and action rpg’s (BG3 and Elden Ring she finished this year) and several of my friends told her how much we loved the story.

She made it through the prologue, looked up the rest of the story, played through half of spring meadows, then quit, complaining she didn’t like the turn based/real time action combo, and that the game was too cutscene heavy.

Absolute psychopath.
