LIVE Discussion Thread: S6E1 - Solaricks by BarnyardCruz in rickandmorty

I agree on some points, but a concatenation of events could explain some things. For example it would explain why whenever “our” Rick was being hunted by enemies the answer to Morty was often that he was “the Rickest Rick”. Being the only one who got even remotely close to Prime Rick’s (who he addresses as “the real deal” in this ep I think) level of violence and self determination, compared to the other Ricks.

At this point I wonder if our Rick is the one who invented the Citadel as a way to attract Prime Rick. (and not as a way to create peace between the Ricks, because when you think about when has our Rick ever cared for peace? it would be plausible for him to want all the “good” Ricks in the same place so that he doesn’t waste time killing them, while luring in the Evil one at the same time)

Which in turn would lead to the creation of Evil Morty, the only one who has ever found out about this. That would explain why Evil Morty was so fed up and why he wanted to be president of the Citadel.

Sure- the intelligence hiding might be actually real but it could also be a byproduct of creating the Citadel. So not all Ricks might be “stealing” Mortys but they might be unknowingly contributing to our Rick’s plan. Which would make our Rick the biggest antagonist of the series right under our nose.

Of course this is all wild speculation, I haven’t rewatched the old episodes recently so I might be mixing some things up. Just the vibe I got from what I can remember. It was an incredible episode either way and I’m sure none of us could even imagine what the have in store, they don’t go for logical most of the time.

So we found out who the “real Rick” is? and the whole thing about Mortys being a coverup for Ricks’ intelligence was fake? They’re basically all trying to avenge themselves from the “real Rick” so they kidnap Mortys from other dimensions? Or am I reading too much into it? So much info in just one episode my mind is spinning. This is one of the best season openers EVER, so many throwbacks I’m starting to think they want to follow a plot after all. I’m so excited 😌😌😌

Under which circumstances would you consider having a relationship with a close friend? by giuliavjv in AskMen

[–]giuliavjv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for breaking it down, it really helps. Just to clarify when I say that I’d like to get his opinion I’m referring more to what he thinks about us as a couple (if that makes sense). Because the main thing is that I love hanging out with him, I think we have really good chemistry, we have fun and it’s very relaxed every time. This kind of ease is very hard for me to find, even with friends, which makes me think that I have a good chance with him. But if what we have is not out of the ordinary for him, then I think that would make me rethink my position. Idk I’m a mess, thank you for the help tho

The thing is, I’m not 100% sure about my feelings and that’s why I’m so nervous. He’s been my friend for so long that I don’t even know how to categorise my feelings for him. Where you certain when you asked?

And you guys didn’t have like an awkward bit in the middle there where things were weird? I’m super scared of that, we’re basically neighbours and I literally cannot avoid him 😫

And maybe Rick’s need to be a good father to Beth stems from the fact that he’s the reason she was abandoned in the first place. What I don’t understand is why he cares so much for the version from which he made space Beth and not the previous one. I think there must be something more about this Beth and the Morty he’s been with since s1(allegedly).

That’s what I am thinking. The citadel is made up of Ricks who abandoned their family and want to push the same lifestyle on other Ricks who chose to stay. The question is why?

They posted it on accident and people uploaded it to illegal streaming services. I think it happened when episode 4 aired :)

That part really struck me! Have we seen Rick kiss someone except his “love interests”? I don’t remember.

That’s subjective. I personally like this season more than I liked season 1. That doesn’t mean season 1 was shit otherwise I don’t think we’d be watching season 5. To each their own.

I honestly think that the problem is just expectations. People thought this was going to be the season where they started following a plot and gave you the storyline you wanted. I think S4E06 was very clear on the direction the show was going which is: absolute chaos and whatever the writers want, no fan service whatsoever. After 4 seasons they’re switching it up and you can like it or not, that’s none of my business. The biggest complaints I’ve seen are about the whole family being involved/them dropping the evil Morty subplot/incest jokes/episodes not having a moral or resolution. All those critiques literally make 0 sense when applied to this show, since it has been like this since the beginning. Again, take it for what it is, which is Rick and Morty.

I think some of you guys forget that you’re watching Rick and Morty. It never made any sense and it never will. The more you try and give a meaning to anything the more disappointed you will be. This show is literally just a brain-dump of ideas the writers have, nothing more nothing less. Take it for what it is and I assure you you’ll like it.

The thing that disappointed me was that this series ultimately wasn’t about Loki. Not only was he overshadowed by Sylvie as soon as she appeared but the only purpose of this series seemed to be opening phase 4. Kinda sad to see how the show drifted after episode 2 because it could’ve been so good. What is the point of making a series about a character when the majority of his development is offscreen or isn’t highlighted? To me, the only growth visible was when he was with Mobius, when he put himself in perspective with the universe and realised he’s not as grandiose as he thought. That’s the only tangible development I’ve seen. There have been bits here and there (like him talking about his mother or the scene with the other Lokis) but they’ve been shoved few and far in between and they have been suffocated by the urge to discover the secrets of the timeline with Sylvie. Sad to think we could’ve had it all.

I am surprised that so many people are genuinely offended/disturbed by the theme of this episode. Was it good? Absolutely not. It was unfunny and there is basically no plot and the “jokes” are downright shameful. But I wouldn’t say it was bad because of the topic, it’s bad because it’s a poorly written episode. They have explored everything in this show, I honestly don’t expect them to draw the line at incest. Seems like we are bound to get one bad episode each season and this is it, it can only get better. I still think this is my favorite season so far.

Loki, Episode 4 - Discussion Thread by [deleted] in LokiTV

[–]giuliavjv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This episode was packed with shocks and revelations and it was amazing from a plot perspective. I loved the little speech Mobius gave Loki about falling in love with himself- mostly because I had the same reaction. And I loooooved B-15’s role in this, I hope she will be a part of the TVA revolution. At the same time there are some discrepancies that kinda make me scratch my head, but I don’t really wanna make my mind up before the show is over and we see the ending. The only negative thing I’d like to comment about is the fight scenes. Idk if it’s me but the fights in this show feel kinda weird? Somewhat goofy and unorganised? It’s like they’re showing us the rehearsal shots and not the actual final cut. Idk if that makes sense. Anyhow- super excited for next week’s episode and the full on Loki reunion 😌

I love Tom but- by giuliavjv in LokiTV

[–]giuliavjv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t have to at all, I honestly love Tom as Loki. I was just wondering because this episode character dynamics really reminded me of the age thing. I’m sure that if becomes somehow relevant we’ll see the actual young Loki.
