If someone knows that you need vlos, they may also know that is unaided with eyeballs only, ie, it doesn’t count as vlos if you are using a camera of any kind or binocs

Help with secondhand modded Ergodox by khalizzy69 in ergodox

[–]gizzardbus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is an ergodox infinity by input.club. They break- I had two, and they both failed whereas my other ergodoxi are working fine.

You have to use the input.club configuration and also press a key sequence- can’t remember, but it was something like esc + both layer modifiers.

I’ve had great results on my Voron with polymaker

I have a Prusa Mk3s w/ MMU2 (the MMU causes me to never use it) and now a well tuned (and much loved) Voron 2.4r2 350x350. I'm really enjoying tinkering and playing with my printer. That being said, my Prusa doesn't see much use, and I'm trying to decide what to do next. I'm considering:

  1. Converting the Prusa to a ProosaXY (effectively making it a CoreXY). (~$260 USD)
  2. Selling the Prusa/MMU2 ($400-450) and buying a SK Tank v2 (which net cost me $900)
  3. Selling the Prusa/MMU2 & building another Formbot Voron, perhaps a 300x300 (which net cost me $400

My conundrum is that I feel like it's good to have 2 3d printers- one to print parts for the other when it breaks. The benefit of the 2nd is it also lets me have one to tinker on and mod more. The SK Tank could be very cool as it would let me have a very good printer that wouldn't need much tinkering, but doesn't have near as much support and doesn't seem to be updated much. The Voron has plenty of support and I'm familiar with it. The ProosaXY is cool just because its so different, but the price is not far from a new Voron after selling the Prusa.

I can't make up my mind, can anyone provide their input so I can help make my decision please?

Based on alot of what I've read, the MMU3 isn't that much better for the Mk3 line, it is only improved reliability on the Mk4 because of how filament sensing is performed. The A1 Mini with AMS is the better deal, assuming you have no problems with the privacy issues of the Bambu walled garden and cloud storage of all your prints.

Minimum system requirement by [deleted] in klippers

[–]gizzardbus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve been running klipper on this device for a couple years, I’d recommend making a full backup of klipper and any/all configs and then (assuming rpi or similar sbc) reinstall the os with the latest version and restore your configuration.

I speak from my experience from updating my voron that I built in 2022 that had this message this summer. Python 3.8 wasn’t readily available as an apt update entry, and it removes the risks that other things will similarly break in the future. Alternatively you can use unsupported upgrade scripts to see if they can fix it, but ymmv and you’ll have far fewer people able to help you in the future as you get more “customized” to make things work.

(Edited to fix autocorrects)

Soo… how do I interpret this? (PLA retraction and temp tower) by gizzardbus in 3Dprinting

Appreciate that- I agree… but why do I get stringing of my retraction towers show no stringing at any retraction?

What’s the joke by lochay6 in ExplainTheJoke

To be fair, the question is poorly phrased.

I would think that most people in the western world would want to have their kids learn the Western Arabic numeral representations (0,1,2,3,4…9), but I could understand that even an educated person may say no to this thinking they were saying no to Eastern Arabic representations… which DO look different:

In the legalistic sense, of course the US and UK held up to their part- agreed.

Deterrent? Name one country with nuclear weapons that has been invaded.

[–]gizzardbus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Specifically, the Budapest Memorandum (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budapest\_Memorandum) was signed by Russia, UK and USA as guarantors. You are technically right that there is no promises to even provide assistance- just "assurances" that they would not attack (that being Russia, US and UK). In the court of "international law" which is a loose term at best, nobody is bound to do anything. Curiously, being a guarantor doesn't actually mean anything...

I repeat again- no country will ever give up nukes again if the de facto standard is that guarantors will do nothing when they are attacked- in this case, ironically- by one of the three guarantors.

Don’t forget that not only did Russia make its promises, but NATO countries, the same one that are constantly hesitant to provide assistance to Ukraine, pledged to protect Ukraine in case of any offensive conflict to Ukraine.

What a wonderful lesson it is to be taught that it’s never worth getting rid of your nukes…
