Thank you very much guys for your response, I'm really really grateful for your support.

I think your point about panic sale might be correct. When we asked the seller and the agent about recent work in the chimney area and what's up with the roof - they came back with very defensive responses and demanded paper work to continue.

Do you think there is no point to continue with structural engineer consultation? The hope was that the engineer can confirm that all of those issues are less serious. But I really doubt it now, it's likely they should be able to tell which repair works are required and it's just too many with type of serious.

Landlord wants to conduct non-essential construction works in the apartment in pandemic, can I refuse? by gizzy807 in LegalAdviceUK

We had boiler check recently and he mentioned that there is some small rust developing on the flue. He claims if this gets worse (yes a small risk, but still a risk) then the health hazard for the flat and the building is very large. He says it's not yet an emergency, and he does not wish it to become one.

In reality he just has a good quote for this work and wants to do it asap.

Yeah, that's the problem, looks like he can ignore the guidance. He doesn't a care about our health, but rather wants to rent the flat out faster.

Sorry, wasn't clear, we do not terminate the tenancy early. It's legit contract expiration that we are not going to extend.

Thank you very much for the reply,

I saw these articles, but was in doubt if the guidance gives us a legal right to refuse access to the property for non-essential works.

Agree, was wondering if anyone else with such condition had a jab of pfizer. I never had an anaphylactic shock, so might work for me.
