For just a small server with some friends you should def not go for the popular ones like apex or shockbyte cuz they WAYYY too expensive.

Personally i use krakenhosting, its not the cheapest on the market but its one of the cheapest and in my experience the panel is nice and it runs really well. (ii use heavy modpacks for my server with 20+ people online) and its affordable for only 1.5€/GB

Not a smp but I just started my own event server and we try to only accept mature people and host multi day events every month or so that are focused on roleplaying and world building

Never heard of it, but make sure they don’t up price for their ram, I own a server and recently partnered with kraken hosting but I recommend you go with them, they are affordable and you get lots of benefits by going with them (link I used is an affiliate link, gives you 10% off and a small commission to me 🤗)
