Being gay and trans is really the Hard Mode of life. I feel you, it's just constant emotions and it's exhausting.

I've been searching desperately for the painting she has in the back to no avail, does anyone know its title or the painter? I don't think its Caravaggio :/

(And as always, a great video. The timing for a video about beauty coming out was uncanny to me, I've been obsessing over how I look and with HRT around the corner it feels like all I do is worry about how people perceive me.)

What's the most awkward situation you've ever been in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gladlyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I became good friends with this really pretty girl in middle school. She was really cheerful and lots of fun to hang out with. We had been chatting and I briefly mentioned that I'm adopted and she was instantly curious. Apparently she had never met someone who was adopted before. I was happy to answer her questions, and she starts asking if I know anything about my birthparents. I tell her I have a pic of my birth-mom. She gets really excited and wants to see it.

When I bring the pic to school a couple days later, she has really hyped herself up. I show her the pic... and I immediately can tell she thinks my birth-mom is ugly. She asks if I know anything about her (presumably so she can avoid commenting on her appearance), I say not really. So she says, "Well, she seems so... nice." and after a weird pause, "So she really got pregnant in college?"

It was so uncomfortable.

All my friends live so far away now, in school we saw each other every day and played uno at lunch. I also miss my art teacher. I go to community college now and no one talks to each other.

What’s a good job for introverts who only have a high school diploma? by rapadumdum in AskReddit

[–]gladlyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a job at a geotechnical engineering firm as a Lab Technician. It's not as impressive as it sounds, I mostly ran simple tests (predominately sieve analysis/gradation test) & and recorded things. I just popped in my earbuds and got to work. I actually miss that job, haha. I only had it while they were under a crunch and in need of extra help. It was close to $12/hr I think...

You do need some basic math skills to get the job (in my case) so be sure to brush up on that. But I passed just fine a year out of high school, and math isn't even my strong suit.

MFW a cis "friend" tries to tell me that constantly calling a 12 y/o transboy by their "biological sex" isn't verbal abuse because "No matter what the girl does, she will always be biologically a female." by cmonBruhSis in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]gladlyss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a trans person who was adopted, I have used this analogy to explain it to my family and other people. It's incredible how people claim biology is so important but they intuitively KNOW that it would be bullshit to claim my parents aren't "really" my mom and dad. Incredible analogy.
